Signal Strength bouncing

Wed Nov 03, 2010 9:38 pm

I have a existing Tower that has been in service several years. I have a RB433AH with 3 R52 cards. 2 are used for 2.4 wireless AP Bridge and 1 is 5ghz backhaul.

I am having problems with the 2.4's. the signal strength usually is in the 70 to low 80's. the floor use to be 95 to 100.

I the last 2 months the signal changes from mid 70's to over 100 and the floor drops to -60's for a few seconds.

today I changed out the whole box with new RB433ah and R52 cards. NO change still has the same problem. I have tried different channels but have not found one that is any better.

Any Ideas would be welcome!
Thanks in advance.

I had not done anything before the problem started. Since then I have upgraded the RB433AH from 3.30 to 4.11 and all the clients to 4.11. It did not help.

we are running 2.4 B on the Band choice

Thanks

Other than changing routerboard and wireless cards. Did you try to change antenna cable, or antena itself? If signal varies as you describe, I would guess some contact went bad, or water got inside cable or antenna.

no the antenna and cables have been on for a few months. the 5ghz backhaul works fine only the 2 2.4 ghz have problems. it seem to occure about every 10-15 minutes. I wanted to attach a screen shot but can't figure out how to copy it to this post.

thanks
