Winbox Ipv6

Sat Dec 04, 2010 12:08 am

Mikrotik, we need Winbox IPv6 support.

Any chance to have it inside next 5.0 RC 6 ?

We'd like to see as well IPv6 support for tunnels, it is available with Linux and Solaris since a long time. According to what i've seen inside Winbox, no IPv6 tunnels are available on Router OS.

Somewhere between the end of next year (2011) and beginning of 2012 we'll see first clients with IPv6 only public adresses.

It is important to begin testing of all this stuff now on router OS so that we can prepare clients and give them training.

MT have said its coming in v5 but to be honest were in the RC stage now so I doubt we'll too many new things, v6 isn't a priority right now for them and most likly won't be until their clients are screaming at them for it

Adding IPv6 support to an application is not a big deal with modern programming tools.

Should have been done two years ago to respect integrators inertia so that they can fully learn and test IPv6 before client deployment.

Seems like IPv6 could be a big deployment mess mainly because of manufacturers and providers not giving it the necessary importance.

just use ipv6 ssh for now. Also, Winbox loader is very complicated, and there are certain features we would like to see when we come up with ipv6 support. Just hang on and lets see how that unfolds.

Hang on and wait is an unacceptable answer, 2 months ago Normis posted Winbox v6 was "Winbox is coming very soon"

What kind of answer is acceptable to you in this case? The fact is, we are working on it. How else do you want us to present this fact?

How about some action on it? Or step up and say you can expect to see winbox6 around 2 months from now.
6 items in the changelog for ROS 5.0, 2 of which are bug fix's in the pages of changes is quite bad really. I quoted you 2 months ago saying it's coming really soon so what has changed? 2+ month wait is not very soon so either you were wrong to say that or you've changed focus again.
Just how much of you dev team is devoted to v6 at the moment compared to say nv2? What is MT's view on how their clients should proceed when v4 is run out? In detail what parts of ROS do you intend to make v6 compatible and in which version

The acceptable answer to this thread is "We can assure you that full winbox6 will be in ROS 5.0 release" Talk is cheap, Our v6 trails are on hold because of dynamic routing with v6 issues so I have to come up with a workaround to get past bugs you wont work on
