Firewall log SRC-MAC field in different ROS version?

Wed Feb 16, 2011 7:59 pm

Helo!

Same firewall rule, different log message...
/ip firewall filter
add action=log chain=forward comment="" connection-state=new disabled=no log-prefix=MAS src-address-list=customers
ROS 4.11 show src-mac field
ROS 4.5 src-mac field is missing....
ROS 3.30 src-mac field is missing....

I remebmber to show src-mac on olde ROS versions...

Where I are wrong?

Re: Firewall log SRC-MAC field in different ROS version?

Hi,

Sorry for bringing up such an old topic, but I've encountered the same problem. However, it seems like it's not the software version that causes the difference. I have several RB411's and RB433's running 5.6 and 5.16 working as outdoor wireless hotspots.
I'm using the rule:
/ip firewall filter
add action=log chain=forward comment="" connection-state=new \
    disabled=no log-prefix="" protocol=tcp
to log connections. On RB411 and RB433 the src-mac field is logged.

Recently I've developed a RB750 (software version 5.6) to work as a hotspot router with a couple of indoor Linksys wireless AP's. The AP's are connected to the local interfaces of the RB750. And unfortunately the 750 doesn't log the src-mac field, only the inbound and outbound interfaces.

I'm wondering if it's the hardware version, that causes the difference, or is it the network configuration. Can anyone give me a hint?

Thanks,
Jacek

Resurrecting old post with no reply. I'm having the same issue. ROS 6.38.3 on 750GL. I have an firewall filter set up and logging. I need the src-mac to log, but it is not showing up. I'm getting for example:

06:38:51 firewall,info trap forward: in:bridge1(ether1) out:bridge1(ether4), proto UDP, 192.168.1.101:26669->99.231.163.62:9000, len 126

Anyway of capturing the src-mac?
Thanks.
