802.1q trunk over wireless.

Mon Mar 07, 2011 1:57 am

Hi All,

I was following the guide:

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/802.1q_Tr ... s_P2P_Link

but somehow i could not get things to work.

My network:
switch --- RB433(l4)----- wireless link --- RB711(l3) ---switch
  • management_vlan = vlan77
    Voice_vlan = vlan7
    Adsl_vlan = vlan100
everything is configured the same as per link above except that on RB711 i could not configure Wlan1 in "AP bridge" but "bridge" mode. I do get an error message about "AP bridge" and that is why i settled for "bridge" mode (level 3 license limitation).
  • Can the above config work when one side is "AP bridge" and the other is "bridge" mode?
    How can one use "nstreme" with 802.1q trunk over wireless?
    does anyone have a link to a tutorial except for the one above? i don't mind to have a look of your configs.
Thanks in advance and i look forward to your correspondence.

use ststion bridge and bridge. remember to have a l2 mtu big enoug to pass troug vlan (1504) ((1518 in qinq (((valn over vlan))))). always do a bridge between ethernet and wlan interface

Thanks! Effectively use Q in Q and I did not know the need to raise the mtu to 1518
I have a thread open about this in: http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php ... 01#p356301

if yo ucheck carefully you can see that WDS is used as station cannot be bridged and you have to use other mode on wireless client side. That is only thing you are missing to make this work as per sample.
