No, I didn't try that. I'm not currently in office so I can't test it, but on MT scan I see hidden ssid's.

I have more then 100 links and this is what I saw when connecting two clients on hidden test AP both running v5.1. SSID was shown at scan-list but it shouldnt because it was hidden on AP.

Best regards

I don't know should I open new post or continue on this one but I have same problem and I see there is no answer on this...

So, the question is: Why I can see SSID of OTHER device if on that device SSID is hidden...

See picture: Left and right are units with different SSID's. (I write TEST and I hide other SSID's that I saw on location).

you have been replied several times - if software tool is made to look up SSID in special ways than default. Hide SSID will hide it in other cases.

RouterOS is made to look for SSID in all the data that is available, that is why SSID is eventually displayed if you have hidden it.

If you are looking for security features, then look gor WPA/WPA2 with AES unicast and group ciphers.

IMHO this is similar to access list - where you can enter some data and deny/allow access for certain stations to the access-point. For me it is easy to overcome this hurdle, if that is only security measure there is. Same goes for WEP secured APs, just a matter of technique and no cheating.

Each of these features stops certain number of attempts to connect to your wireless network.

When talking about security you are just building high enough wall so that no uninvited 3rd parties can get over it in real time.

hi janisk..

I use WPA2, but I was interesting in this issue.

About posts: I try to refer to same older issue, but after few days that nobody answered I tried with new post. I didn't ask here after I got answer...
