Billing Solutions

Thu Apr 28, 2011 1:31 pm

I'm currently looking for billing solutions for a WISP, PPPoe Accounting is fine, however that's just total bytes, In the future I'd like to include some free unmetered content.

So my question is, Does anyone have any ideas of what they like/use, Keeping in mind we would like to have unmetered content eventually.

Features:
  • Good Interface
    Client Portal
    Billing
    Radius integration(duh)
    Would like Unmetered Content
I've looked at lots of different ones, However I fear that I'll need to move to Netflow accounting to make unmetered content a possibility.

In the interim I've written a polling script for Traffic Accounting, That dumps to a DB. (Scripting isn't an issue for us)

Thanks in Advance to all of you!

I'd recommend radius based AAA using trafficflow only to refund data however if you're comfortable using trafficflow for all of it then scripting something would work, because no-one is going to write something that does what you want better than you :-)

You can then use CoA requests from the radius server to update users accounts without them having to be logged out and back in to get the refunded data.

Start off with something simple and work your way out, we've done similar with our own in house solution over the last 3 years, works like a charm.

WHMCS works well.
You have to be prepared to do some Mikrotik API coding in PHP to integrate UserManager with WHMCS.
Or if using a radius server write some PHP SQL code in order to integrate.

Came across this WHMCS plugin for radius the other day, apparently does Mikrotik stuff http://secondimpression.net/whmcs-freeradius
Haven't used it myself but it might be worth looking into. That and smaller developers are normally more willing to accommodate feature requests ;-)

I use Emerald by IEA Software, it is a very full featured ISP billing platform.

if you are open to using a free, hosted and managed ISP billing platform, try nDebit (www.nDebit.com)

Hi guys, im currently using WHMCS and now working on trying to automate client disconnections on specific dates. I know there is a FreeRadius module for whmcs, but has somebody had it up and running and fully integrated?

http://blissradius.com RADIUS billing works with WHMCS all the things people listed here, remote disconnect, metered/unmetered, on date disconnect etc. Cheers!
