Roku Box needs an IP Binding before it will work

Thu Sep 22, 2011 9:39 pm

I have an RB750 (v5.4) setup as a hotspot. If a user on a laptop goes to a website such as Pandora.com, Pandora plays correctly. But if a user has a Roku box, Pandora won't play. If I give the Roku box an IP binding (bypassed), then it will work.

Some sites do work without an IP binding. One site is Crackle.com.

I'm new to MikroTik products, so I would appreciate any help.

You don't seem to be actually asking a question.
First describe how you have your hotspot setup. And then ask your questions.

I don't want to use an IP binding, because I lose bandwidth control, so what can I do to allow the Roku box to work. I'm guessing that the hotspot is blocking ports or something. The hotspot is just setup with default settings, and works fine with everything except this Roku box.

Oh, and thanks for the quick reply.

I have also found the Roku and Mikrotik DHCP don't play well. The Roku hammers the network with broadcast DHCP requests. I'm using RB750UP and v6.26, DHCP Server, VLAN, and Ubiquiti access points.
