Wireless rackmount advanced router Made for Mikrotik

Tue Oct 11, 2011 6:41 am

Hi everyone,

Please help me to find wireless rackmount router for RouterOS. I need 802.11b/g/n, 1xUSB, mini omni antenna installed or integrated indoor antenna, rackmount case, LCD screen, CPU higher than dual core 2GHz, RAM 1GB enough, 6 x GigaE, 2 x SFP slot. I already has seen list of Made for Mikrotik company, but there is no wireless core router.

You could buy the core router then buy a 411 or 433 as an AP.

Not very good idea for me. I don`t want to make handmade case. I want to just purchase complex core router.

Check out Advantech. They make a whole range of rackmountable network appliances with onboard CF slot + SATA, LCD display, and various numbers/combination of GigE and 10GigE SFP/SFP+ ports.

I had my hands on a FWA-6480 for a day and installed RouterOS on the included industrial CF card. It recognised all the storage and the ports, but LCD display didn't work (I think this was with ROSv3, things might have changed now). I ran a bunch of bandwidth tests to itself (port to port) over GigE and it didn't break a sweat.

As for WiFi, I agree with previous posts, use an RB411 or the new RB751 as your AP... let core routers be core routers.
