Help With PCQ Queues

Thu Oct 27, 2011 1:45 pm

Hi there,

Could someone just clear out one thing for me. We have PCQ queues set up for our customers with classifier as /32 address.

In queue tree when I uses the queue type as PCQ, Will the "limit at" option be applied to the whole queue or to individual
PCQ streams? lets say I have "limit at" set at 128k in queue tree for VoIP queue, type is PCQ. Does this mean that 128k is guaranteed to each PCQ substream or is it 128k for a total of all the streams. The later would mean that if there are 20 active PCQ streams the guaranteed rate for each would be 128k/20.

Thanks for your help.

Limit and Max-Limit apply to the PCQ group as a whole, divided evenly between the PCQ sub-streams.

In the setup of the PCQ type, you can specify PCQ-Rate, which is the limit each sub-stream is held to.

The Wiki has some nice visuals for this:
