USB used as ethernet port

Tue Nov 22, 2011 10:26 pm

Gents, I have a project where the USB ports must support ethernet data pass thru. The router is an x86 board with multiple USB and ethernet ports and the intention would be to connect USB devices and route data to and from those devices as if they were ethernet. To clarify, you would have one or more USB devices sending and receiving ethernet like packages thru the router and to actual ethernet ports. We have done this easily using debian and CentOS but want to try using RouterOS. Can RouterOS support USB data ports as if they were ethernet ports?

Pretty sure that cannot be done... but you can use some brands of USB-to-Ethernet network cards with Mikrotik.
