Right next to the conference are a few hotels for 100PLN a day (veeeery cheap) and right next to it is also a train station which goes to the city. Google maps power.

Looks like the train goes every 20 minutes and takes around 30 minutes to travel:

From Warszawa Srodmiescie (just a few steps from Central Station) you have direct train connections to Ozarow.
Image
You can also check connection on http://warszawa.jakdojade.pl/?locale=en - including public transport (e.g. from airport).

Nope, on your screen there is 1 "przes." which means change (try to change language to En on train site). From Centralna, the system suggest you to change the train on Warszawa Zachodnia (click: 'more details of selected connections' / 'Pokaz szczegolowo wybrane polaczenia' [black button on bottom, left side )

Centralna Station is more for long distance connections, and Srodmiescie is for regional connections. However, Srodmiescie and Centralna are almost the same station - you can walk from Centralna platforms to Srodmiescie platform without leaving underground corridors.

but be aware: there is WKD Warszawa Srodmiescie (on West) and PKP Warszawa Srodmiescie (on East). Use the second one. From WKD you won't get to the Ozarow Mazowiecki.

I'm coming to this Europe MUM, it's a long way so I will be making sure I see a bit more of the city than I have on previous MUM trips.

If anyone is keen for some sight seeing after the MUM I am staying until the 20th and it's always better to have an adventure with more people!

If you have a few extra days, you can go to Poznan, Krakow (if you've never been there) or to Gdansk. Warsaw itself is not the star-attraction of Poland in my opinion.

according to your profile, your country is behind firewall - it won't pass any invitations :D

here in Belarus, I just book the hotel and buy train/plane tickets - that was enough for visas in Czech'09/Hungary'11 embassy (just printed booking page was enough, at least for Czech) and Poland'10 (I had to receive booking confirmation from hotel by fax; yes that was virtual fax, that I then printed :) )

Thanks Chupaka, I had confirmed with Poland embassy in my country (Indonesia) & you are true, invitation letter needed if only in business visa. I also had book the plane & hotel with credit card and print it as conpleted document visa request.
Hope that will be approved.
See u there :)

That's true. However trip to Gdansk can be a veeeeery long - over 6 hours - you can go a lot of faster to Krakow or Poznan or even Berlin via train. Warsaw in March 2012 won't have highway ;-)
However, you can go from Warsaw to Gdansk or Wroclaw by plane, with very attractive prices -> http://www.oltjetair.com (or national operator - LOT.com ). You can also try cheap flights with wizzair to other European cities.

And two things about getting to Ozarow: this is suburbs of Warsaw, so the only way to get there is the regional train (Koleje Mazowieckie - green/white/yellow painting) or Taxi. Be aware of "Przewoz osob" (unlicensed taxi's - usually marked by yellow-black chessboard) - some of those are not fair - you can be charged over 10x more than taxi.

As i mentioned above: you can check local connections on jakdojade.pl (you can switch to english version).

Couple of things...

1 - I land Warsaw at 1910 on the 14th. Is there anybody landing about then who wants to share a taxi?

2 - I'm going to spend the Saturday having a looksee around Warsaw (specifically the Gestapo HQ museum and probably then a wander around the shops), but if somebody wants to meet up on Saturday evening for beers/food, I'm up for that.

If you plan to stay in Poland for few days visit Krakow city (http://www.krakow.pl/english/)

As Normis wrote earlier Gdansk and Poznan are also worth visiting.

Excellent. Thank you. Just out of interest, what does
enter at your own risk
mean in the sentence:
There are also couple of bars nearby (enter at your own risk).
1 - We haven't checked them,
2 - This area is known for violence/prostitution/crimes etc., or
3 - These are nasty bars and we wouldn't recommend you set foot in them without your personal army?

OK, let's join in with the game!
Colours used so far that I know...
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

unused colours (so far as I know)?
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Then of course, Mikrotik can also always change the colour of the writing colour, white, black, gold, whatever! Or change the supplier they buy from. So I think I am not going to start any lottery on what the new T Shirts are going to look like! Just go to MUM and enjoy meeting old friends and new :-)

I discounted this one as it did not appear to me to be from Mikrotik. I have included it in the "Mikrotik MUM T Shirt Lotto colour chart"!
http://mum.mikrotik.com/gallery/v/EG07/ ... 4.jpg.html
(this is not yellow, it's pale green)
I am not able to find any Fruit of the Loom shirt made in this colour. You sure they didn't get washed at the wrong temperature before handing them out? ;-)

Error is:

We noticed that VIES had a problem yesterday. Looks like they broke it.

Any chance we can get past this ?

we have contacted VIES and they are working on it. This is global VIES DB issue.

the only workaround is to register for free, and before that - remove the VAT number from your mikrotik.com account. after registering, put the number back, so that licenses don't get charged for VAt.

I've now arrived and can report some potentially useful info...

When you come into the foyer of the Airport on your way to outside, you will be approached by a large number of taxi drivers asking for your business. I was warned that you can't guarantee these are genuine licensed and insured taxi drivers. So I politely refused and got one from the rank outside. There were a long line of taxis and as one leaves plenty more arrive so there does not seem to be any need to pre-book.

The taxi cost to the Hotel was 77.60PLN (about 19 Euro). So if a few of you share, you could even just pay a few euro each. Why bother with trains and buses at that price?

The driver said he understood English very well, but when I gave him the name of the hotel, he said he had never heard of it! I then gave him the whole postal address, to which he replied "ah... is not in Warsaw, is outside Warsaw, OK, I take..." So be aware that you can't guarantee that just stating the Hotel name will get you a driver that has heard of it!

Anyway, the journey took about 30 minutes from the Airport and the hotel looks very good quality so far. Full RECCE tomorrow!

TV channels are all Polish and a couple of German channels (oh and a CNBC channel with no audio). Looks like I shall be relying on my private VPN server with a UK IP and watching the BBC on the internet then.

The internet is provided by multiple stand alone APs around the Hotel, each one with a different SSID. So as you walk around, you have to add each SSID into your phone. Someone needs to explain to them how to manage an indoors wireless network properly ;-)

Speed? With a quiet very empty hotel... I'm getting, wait for this... 2MB/s. :-( I really hope this is due to a very clever PCQ based bandwidth sharing system as when it gets to nearly 1000 geeks all trying to get the internet at the same time, this internet feed is going to fall over!

If any other people are here already - want to meet?

Hi

Some useful informations:

In the back side of the Mazurkas has a Train Station, and i used today to go visit Warsaw.

First step: buy a ticket on a old building near the train station before you pass to the middle side, there has a stairs to pass the train lines...

The ticket for 2 ways, cost ~8zl and the trip was really nice, and take +/- 20min.

Destination: Dworzec Centralny or Warszawa Centralna (Warsaw Central)

To come back to the Mazurkas Hotel is what i call a really good adventure...

First you need to enter on the right Train ;), there a place in middle of the trip called (Warszawa Zachodnia Station) that have many connections to other lines ;), if you enter on a worng train go back to that station.

You need to get a train for that directions
Blonie
Sochaczew
Lowicz Glowny
Kutno
Plock

But don´t forget to get out of the train on Ozarow Mazowiecki.

See you on Warsaw

Please check the microphone audio this time. At the Vegas MUM, it seemed as if the audio was coming from a distant microphone and was difficult to understand. PLEASE...

Thanks,

also, maybe there's some chance to increase the resolution of the camera? now it's impossible to see small texts on the slides...

I'm back home safe and sound after a great few days away.

I would like to thank Mikrotik for putting together a great conference with some interesting and informative presentations. I would also like to thank Mikrotik for the two free routers.

I had a great time, met some nice people, renewed acquaintances and got to see a little more of Poland.

Thank you again.

Thanks, Nick!

No T-shirts were left, we had a big crowd. Videos of presentations will be on the site in the end of the week, as will the PDF files.

Hi everybody,
I've really enjoyed time spent in Poland MUM. Every single day was a surprise. Especially the first 3 days (for the Training The Trainer course)... :D
I'm very happy to have meet Normis and the other guys (Janis and Sergejs in primis).

Is there some way to see most of the pictures taken from Janis? In the picture gallery there are only 29 pictures...

Thanks in advance!!

PS: Normis, can you please add my user to the trainers topic? Thanks!

To come back to the Mazurkas Hotel is what i call a really good adventure...
I printed out your instructions and I'm really glad I did - It seems that the timetables in Warsaw don't show the stations the train stops at, just their final destinations. This means you have to have intimate knowledge of the transport system before you can use it effectively. Ah well, I found a train to Lowicz Glowny and it did stop at the correct station.

As you said, a good adventure!!

Thank you for the advice!
