Feature Request: Backup name to include system identity

Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:43 am

Hi,

when using WinBox->Files->Backup, could you make it so the filename does not start with "Mikrotik-...", but rather use the value from System->Identity?

also, it would be nice if date in name be in YYYYMMDD format, not unsortable DDMMYYYY...

Sorry for offtopic, but could someone remaind me the reasone why ntp server was removed from “base package” in v5?.
Is there any chance to put this package back into main npk?

I knew that this was discussed several times ago, and I knew that there is way to do that (set line=1, and set back line=100), but it will be very nice to have “clear log” button in log menu.
At least this function could be very useful for every beginers.

also easy to abuse for beginers. it would take one wrong character to get rid of important logs. plus - any intruder would easily find this command and clear his tracks. line=1 line=100 is harder to guess.

Well, this make sense.

Hmm.
I guess, the intruders will trying to install free version of ROS and check command line options before login into potential aim.
But I get you point of view. And thx for quick respond.

if you do not require very precise time (+/-100ms is ok for you) you can use SNTP that is used by default, and SNTP is also easier on low power boards. But if you require precise time so that other NTP devices can get the time from (so, at least stratum3 if not mistaken) then use NTP package and different ntp client and ntp server.
