DHCP pool leased out too quickly...need more IP addys

Wed Feb 01, 2012 8:32 am

without having to segment my network into smaller networks I am wondering how i can setup my dhcp server so that it isnt leasing out all of the IPs from the pool....any suggestions...all of the IPs get leased and then guests are not able to get onto the network....i want to avoid this some way.

thanks.

are you using public IPs or private IPs with NAT ?

If private IPs you can increase the pool size.

eg 192.168.8.0/22

Network Address = .............: 192.168.8.0
Broadcast Address = ...........: 192.168.11.255
Usable IP Addresses = .........: 1,022
First Usable IP Address = .....: 192.168.8.1
Last Usable IP Address = ......: 192.168.11.254

Hope that helps

Also, if using Hotspot services, set address pool to none (if not using the anyip feature) as that soon gets swamped.
