Routerboard 433GL slow connection speed

Sun Feb 26, 2012 9:17 pm

Hi,

I have the routerboard 433GL. I used routerOS v5.9 then I upgraded it to v5.14.
Test Speed with both OS versions was slow: 30-35 mbps download and 6 mbps upload.
6 mbps upload is ok but 30-35 is not in order. Normally it is 60 mbps.

First I thought that my ISP has some troubles in its services,
but then I disconnected the 433GL and connected my computer directly with the cable modem.
(ISP is KabelBW Germany)

Everything was fine again without the routerboard.
So I tried to figure out what it can be the problem.

Please give me some advices what should I do to fix this problem.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Now I make a new test with a minimum of configure.
After hard reset I only change the MAC of Port 2.

[admin@MikroTik] > /interface ethernet
[admin@MikroTik] /interface ethernet> set 1 mac-address=00:50:7F:C9:XX:XX

Activate DHCP Clint

/ip dhcp-client add interface=ether2 disabled=no

And configure the Firewall for NAT

/ip firewall nat add chain=srcnat src-address=192.168.88.0/24 action=masquerade

It is all.

But it is not faster now, again 30-35 mbps and direct with PC or with a another Router more than 60 mbps

Hi,
try to set fixed ethernet speed to cable modem at 100Mbit/s.

Through which port do you connect the laptop and which the cable modem?

Hello,

I test it with 100 Mbit/s and with 1Gbit/s fix speed already and it change nothing again 30-35 Mbit/s.
On the Modem I use always Port 2 (Bridge Port). But not directly normally with a switch between,
because I have a Mail / Sip server how have direct its own public fix IP address.
Port 1 on the Modem is an NAT Port witch work too but with a flex IP (and with full speed on PC) but it is normally not in use from me.
The speed tests I make so that I disconnect my 433GL and change the mac of my Laptop that he have the same like my router
and so I receive the same IP address. The WAN Speed is then more than 60Mbit/s.

(On my tariff I have 3 Fixed IP addresses and all I can use over fixed mac addresses witch connected to port 2 over a switch)

The same problem too, when Firewall enabled with some charging rules, speed is not more than 13 mb/s. Please help with ..

I need to connect to it about 10 wired, and 5 wireless... If I know about such problems, I'd prefer to bought some buffalo HW.

I still have the same problem. I have made a reset of the 433GL today again and I have only set the port 2 of dhcp client and “ /ip firewall nat add chain=srcnat src-address=192.168.88.0/24 action=masquerade”. That’s all, what I’ve done. More I haven’t done at all.
Will I have to do some more settings, so that it will work faster than 20 Mbit download?

(my CPU Speed is 680 mhz and i have V 5.14 on the Router)

Have you looked at the profiler to see if you using all CPU, and is so what's eating the most cpu?

Yes few times was shown to me, firewall eats (and every time profile sends me to a mikrotik support, because can't display something from profile), but if I have 100 Mhz in settings, I thing a fly will eat it too. With my configuration or (not configured), throughput is not above 20 Mbps, and local BTESTS with this HW is 100% CPU usage everytime.
You mean, with this kind o traffic, my router becomes MAD ? :)
