Rb751U and wireless

Wed Feb 29, 2012 11:13 am

Howist,

I recently got a RB751U and i have set it up as the main router at my commune,

I am having trouble with the wireless.
Its only about 30m away and the ping varies like crazy and the packets drop and the connection quality i simply terrible, the signal strength is still good though?

Even when I am right next to the rb the ping varies from <1 to 15 and there is the odd time out?

What could be the cause of this? Its really starting to p me off.

Please could any one help me.

I have tried to keep most of the wireless settings default. just changed name and security profile etc.

Thanks

Could be interference from another device. Try a different channel.

Will do,

I did a site survey and there weren't any other wireless networks found.

I did a post here http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php ... 50#p273699 with suggested Wireless N settings that work well for me.

If you are using encryption and Wireless N DO NOT USE TKIP - use AES CCM

Enable both Chain 0 and Chain 1 on your RB751U-2HnD

Set your Channel to 20/40 Above or Below (if using channel 6 or above.)

Set Tx Power to Default
