rb750g kernel failure and high cpu load. layer7

Tue Jun 19, 2012 5:38 pm

Hi there.

I have a mikrotik rb750g which im using to split traffic between 3 adsl line.

I have also setup layer 7 and im running it on ether3, ether 4 and ether5 which is the Ethernet ports that the adsl routers are connected.

The cpu load is about +-50%.
Sometimes when I enable some of the rules in mangle for example: When I enable rule which allows my computer to route though different gateway then the cpu load will go 100%.
And if I try to winbox into router using the ip address then I will get error “connection refused”. And if I can log in using mac address on mikrotik then I wil get disconnected after 3 seconds in winbox.
Logs will show that router rebooted because of kernel failure.
Then I have to telnet into router using putty and reboot the router.

After I have done that then the router will work fine again.

It only happens sometimes, maybe the router is getting confused that I am disabling/enabled the rules too much.
The ROS that is running on router is 5.14

Hello Dobby.

The router is working without any problems during the day.

Only at evenings the problem will appear. It is usually when people do p2p.
There are two computers doing p2p. The one is on ether 4(adsl2) and the other on erher5 (adsl3)
CPU usage only goes up to +-100% if both computers are doing p2p at the same time.
I have configured layer 7 to only work on ether3 (adsl1), ehter4 (adsl2) and ether 5(adsl3).
If I also add mangle rules for bridge1 and ether 2 then router freezes up and have to be reset to factory settings using the paperclip or wire against the reset hole.

The router is running ROS 5.14, and all three adsl lines are 4mb adsl.
Bridge 1 ports are ….
*Ether1
*Eoip1
*Eoip2
*Eoip3
*Eoip4
*Eoip5

I have an Intel pentium3 3.0 GHz with 4 GB ram which I can use if needed.
