need to block websites

Mon Sep 03, 2012 1:32 pm

Hello
I want to control the traffic and block websites
I'm reading the manual at - http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/How_to_Bl ... sing_Proxy

can I do the blocking without configure proxy ?

or do I have to it in order to make it work?

and 1 more thing -
I want to make the html of the error to be the standard html+ IMG of my choice that will use as a button to redirect to my site

so let say you want to enter http://www.notallow.com
you will get:

ERROR: Forbidden
[IMG]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

cant enter the website! http://www.notallow.com/:

•Access Denied

and if you press the IMG you will redirect to google.com

I have create transparent hotspot (like it say in this post - http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34336)

and this is my error.html file
the LAN is 10.0.0.1
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<title>ERROR: $(status)</title></head>
<body><h2>ERROR: $(status)</h2>
<hr noshade size="1px"/>
$(if error)
<p>cant enter the website! <a href="$(url)">$(url)</a>:</p>
<ul><li><strong>$(error)</strong></li></ul>
$(endif)
</body>
<img src="http://10.0.0.1/no.png">
</html>

Thanks ,

First I would like to ask you do have single website you want to block or you have list.?

And when client try to access that web site will redirect to you external web page..

Waiting your reply to c how we can start..

Dear..

the easiest way is you can use DNS..

add static dns record for this web sites.. and make them resolve you server ip address instead of real one..

Also you need to force you mentioned client to user only router dns..

/ip firewally add chain=dst-nat src-address=(you client ip range) protocol=udp dst-port=53 action=redirect to-port=53

test it and let me know..

if you want to know how to add static dns just :

/ ip dns static add name=www.google.com address=(yourServerIP)

Best regards
Ali.

When it comes to blocking websites I like to use an application called Qustodio (http://www.qustodio.com/ ). It's really easy to configure and free.
