Mac Address colision big problem.

Fri Sep 28, 2012 11:22 pm

Hi, I have a serious problem with mikrotik. I have several multi-point networks, all in bridge mode,on  my clients I use public IP addresses, the problem is that I have assigned a network/24 per node and when I go to use the address on the customer's servers, I always warns that the IP address is already in use and test the 254 IP addresses and all I get the same message which is not true. when I do a ip-scan radios encounter mikrotik match ip and i say  that are them because I have the MAC address of the radio. sometimes it is a radioin the network and again is another. this is a headache I have tried almost all versions 5.xx and the problem persists.
My setup is in bridge mode, point and multi point nodes there are also other bases, all mikrotik. radios have private ips and not public segments of customers.
Any help please?

Sounds like you have proxy-arp enabled. Turn it off.

did you at any time in the past do a backup and then copy that file to another MT routerboard.

It happened to me and took a few days before I figured out what was going on.

The backup copies across the original Mac's from all interfaces..

Then stupidly you remove the old machine, bring it back to the office, use netinstall to rejuvinate it, re-install it into network.

Then hey presto you have 2 machines with identical info!!! Its a simple mistake.
