SNMP support for IPv6 OIDs

Wed Nov 28, 2012 6:51 pm

I am using an RB1100, v 5.21.

Our network is dual stack, and the Mikrotiks are running IPv6.

We use netdisco <http://www.netdisco.org> to discover and map the network. I am seeing issues with the SNMP MIB on the Mikrotik.

Specifically,
.iso.org.dod.internet.mgmt.mib-2.ip.ipNetToMediaTable.ipNetToMediaEntry.ipNetToMediaPhysAddress
does not seem populated with IPv6 addresses, only IPv4.

Does the Mikrotik MIB have a non-standarrd location for this info?

Just to document this, for people who need this information later.

I have received a reply from Mikrotik:

===
Hello,

Currently we do not support SNMP for IPv6.
We will work on this in the future version, thank you very much for the follow up.

Regards,
<name redacted by me, as it was not cc:ed>
===

FYI, I understand that the OIDs that should be populated are:

IPV6-MIB::ipv6NetToMediaPhysAddress ( .1.3.6.1.2.1.55.1.12.1.2 )
and
IPV6-MIB::ipv6NetToMediaNetAddress ( .1.3.6.1.2.1.55.1.12.1.1 )

These are currently not available on the Mikrotik (v5.21).

Thanks to Eric Miller <eric@jeneric.org> on the netdisco list for the last piece of information.

*Sigh*, we will now need to drop our migration to Mikrotik.
