On 6.0rc5 I am not able to add PPPoE client interfaces. I tested it only on an RB951-2n. If needed I will send a supout.rif.

Re: v6 rc5 released

It's a standard configuration I apply to all the routers used as a CPE (around 1200 installations). It works with all previous releases.

Through CLI, if I add the interface, it just hangs. Through WinBOX it appears an error after a while, saying that it was not possible to add the PPPoE client interface.

It happens even just adding a PPPoE-Client, selecting any interface (example: ethernet 1) without any particular other setting.

looks like only hangs if you specify a password. can be added without a password. thanks for the report, will fix!

what is "KO"? how dead is it? Anything on serial console? Any autosupout.rif files? Those are standard cards, they work for other people. I doubt you would be the only one to notice.

2. why do you have some filters applied in wireless menu of winbox?

1. enable R52H error > off-on wireless packeges (off R52H card) > test card CM10 (R52H off)
2. no filters enable (It showed the winbox)

Really excited to test the new simple queues.

Had a RB/433GL running up a local tower to test on, with about 40 queues. Was running 6.0beta3. Upgraded to RC5.

Link to Mikrotik never came back, have to make site visit now, way to go Mikrotik!!

I'll post back if it just needed rebooted, or if the whole thing is bricked. This should be beta5, not RC5!

UPDATE:

- Reboot didn't fix
- Brought back to office and MAC-Winboxed into it, to find the interface names got changed! Therefor addresses assigned were now "unknown". Interfaces now say Eth3,Eth4,Eth5, when it should be Eth1, 2, and 3.

It's the same thing I see when a backup file is made, and restored onto another Mikrotik that has different ports. Everything gets all messed up. This was just a F/W upgrade though...

when the wireless cards are disabled the board works fine with wireless package enabled?
After which cards enable the board goes to 100% CPU?

wispwest!

what was your previous version before upgrade? I had simular problem when upgrading from pre ROS5.20

run command
/system check-installation

and see if you get any file errors - i did and had to do netinstall

could be that you had errors before upgrade, therefore your backup is
corrupted. Compare size of file with an older backup.

Check log for error when doing system backup

I had one installation going bad when upgrading from 5.20
to 5.22on an RB800 with userman. I got file
error(/system check-installation), error in log
when backup, all packages where not shown.
Wireless package was missing, but wireless still worked.
Had to netinstall and use an older backup file

On successful installations - I have fould no errors with ROS6.0RC5

Zdravím Čechy a Slováky :D (Greetings to Czechs and Slovaks)

Before update with RoS v5.22 -> 6to4 tunnel worked great - ping to IPv6 gateway was OK.
ros522.png
After update to RoS v6.05rc -> 6to4 tunnel didn't work. Gateway was unreachable. Nothing helped (re-setting interface, deleting/adding IPs, deleting/adding route...)
ros605rc.png
I downgraded back to v5.22 and it is working again.

I figured I would upgrade everything to 5.22 first, but this particular one already had 6.0beta3, so I just upgraded it from that one...

I have decent experience with the recent RC versions, Thank you MikroTik guys !!!

On two mipsbe I put the package from 5th December from the development page, it has RouterBOOT 3.02, if you could consult with your colleagues and let us know if we can install it on the router OR wait for the next build and install the RouterBOOT from there ?

Thanks.

I use netinstall to install the routeros npk to usb stick.
Then I place the USB stick in the x86 machine where I want to run RouterOS, the following happens:
Welcome to MikroTik Router Software hard disk installation
Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to abort

Loading drivers
Looking for harddrives.......................

FATAL ERROR: No hard disk found
Press ENTER to reboot
On RouterOS 5.x and routeros 6betaX this works perfectly, but not on routerOS 6rcX.
Tried on Intel DN2800MT and Intel D945GCLF2 motherboards (both have an Atom CPU)

Bug Report.

I had Hide Passwords checked and it was still showing my password. Not that it mattered at the moment, my boss knows my password. This is a potentially big deal though in some environments!

Drag and drop functionality is also broken in Winbox. Trying to copy an html file into the hotspot directory. Had to right click copy, then select the past icon at the top of the File List to make it work.

Attempted to upgrade a RouterBOARD 951-2n for rc4 to rc5. Appears to be bricked. Solid PWR and ACT lights. Nothing else lights up. Any possible fixes besides RMA?

Upgraded my semi-test x86 Intel router (with two 82576 + one 82574L NICs if it matters) from 5.22 to 6.0rc5 - no networking, any /interface print command ended in timeout + supout suggestion. I tried to make supout, but when NetInstalling v5, I checked 'Keep old configuration' - and as a result saw absolutely empty config with all files (including backups, f*ck!!!11oneone) erased, so I don't know how to extract supout from that router :)

p.s. in WinBox, one can change supout file name - how to do that in Terminal? "/system sup-output" doesn't have any parameters...

power it with pushed button, this will load secondary bootloader and run netinstall mode

After flashing it again it worked properly. No idea what went wrong the first time. :)

Would still love to see a more...versatile implementation of UPnP along with NAT-PMP.

Re: v6 rc5 released

I'm using a RB2011UAS-2HnD. I upgraded from v6rc2. No problems encountered with normal routing or wireless useage.

I decided to try to use external USB storage. I've tried with two different flash storaged devices, both formated in fat format. One device is a Cruzer, Micro 2GB. The other device is a SD-USB adapter with a 512 MB SD card. Both devices work fine when plugged into my Windows 7 computer. They also work if plugged into my Android phone using a Micro USB cable. When used on either the computer or phone, the LED on the device is either on all the time or flashing (depending on the USB flash device.)

If I use the exact same cable to plug either device into the router, the active LED on the device flashes very briefly and then nothing happens and the storage is not visible on the router. It is almost acting like it is not getting sufficient power from the router, but either device uses only a very small amount of power. Windows reports the SD-USB adapter as using 100 mA and reports the Cruzer as using 200 mA.

Why won't either device work with the RB? (I've not tested the USB storage on any prior software release on this device.)

Edit: neither device shows up in the list of stores. (no USB store is listed, only the system store)

Edit2: Figured out that I needed to reboot the router before the USB storage will appear and can then be formatted.

Format your USB drive using RouterOS built-in format tool.
Run Winbox, then 'System/Stores/Disks', select USB device and click 'Format Drive'.
RouterOS uses its own file system, not compatible with FAT :( .

I think I thanked you too quickly. The devices do not show up in the /store print list. That is, no USB storage is shown as in the image by samotoka, so it is not available for formatting.

OK. I figured it out. I noticed in the wiki doc a notation that the router needs to be rebooted after installing the USB storage. I rebooted and it now shows up as a USB store and I can format it. Now to use it.

Sun Dec 09, 2012 10:03 pm

I just spent 8 hours yesterday trying to install v6rc5 x86. I usually install routeros systems remotely, either through kvm or ipmi and so far I had no trouble with it. But not this time, when trying to install from virtual cd the installer says no cd; when booting to windows and using netinstall to install local drive, it says installed and then no boot; creating flash drive and loading that remotely through kvm, no luck; dd-ing flash files to local drive meh; etc etc . After 8 hours I accidently loaded the 5.22 iso instead of the 6 and it installed immediatly. FFS, dont remove that beta or development tag from download, this is far from any stable...

Upgraded my semi-test x86 Intel router (with two 82576 + one 82574L NICs if it matters) from 5.22 to 6.0rc5 - no networking, any /interface print command ended in timeout + supout suggestion. yes, I managed to make supout. but I cannot get it from router - no network to download, and downgrading with NetInstall to v5 wipes all configuration and files even with 'Keep old configuration' checked :) do I need to move HDD to Linux server for supout extracting? :) the only think I noticed is that in v6 there are half a dozen devices marked as 'unknown' in resources/pci, while v5 shows them all normally

Fedora 15. Runs fine on all other versions fo ROS. (5.11 - 5.20)
KVM host sends ACPI event to the guest. Try to check if your fedora accepts them.

This happens only in 6.0rc5 so far.

I even created a RouterOS KVM and it too has the same result

[admin@Office] /kvm> shut-down RouterOS_MT
[admin@Office] /kvm> shut-down FedoraNEW
command execution failed!
[admin@Office] /kvm> shut-down RouterOS_MT
command execution failed!
[admin@Office] /kvm> shut-down RouterOS_MT
command execution failed!
[admin@Office] /kvm> shut-down FedoraNEW
command execution failed!
[admin@Office] /kvm> shut-down FedoraNEW
command execution failed!

Their states stay like this until the router (host) is manually restarted

11 name="FedoraNEW" cpu-count=1 memory=640MiB disk-images=hda:FedoraNEW kernel="" kernel-cmdline="" initrd="" vnc-server-address=0.0.0.0 vnc-server-display=11 snapshot=no state=restarting

12 name="RouterOS_MT" cpu-count=1 memory=128MiB disk-images=hda:RouterOS kernel="" kernel-cmdline="" initrd="" vnc-server-address=0.0.0.0 vnc-server-display=0 snapshot=no state=stopping

When the host is restarted so is the KVM BUT the original tap interfaces are not removed from the interface list

Have Netinstall up but since the 951-2n will not bring up an ethernet link I don't think it will do any good. Have tried reset button many times now. Followed directions below for reset button and netinstall.

RB711 wireless client. Simple configuration, only NAT and DHCP. Upgrade from rc5 to rc6 then 100% cpu
No routing on client. Only console and mac-telnet works. Winbox dont work after upgrade

Reverse Path Filtering finally implemented! Thanks Mikrotik :)

After updating a few routers to 6.0rc5 I observe "RX Drops" which weren't counted in 5.21. I'm not quite sure what would be causing it -- the routers are different hardware on different networks and different topologies (one with VLANs, the other without etc.) Everything seems to work just fine, as it did on 5.21, just the stats are alarming. But in interface details they're all zeros. I tried to log those drops trying topic "interface" but nothing appeared in the log.

See the screen below. Thanks.

I installed this and previously my RB433AH had no problems handling 50MB of inbound traffic. After upgrading to v6rc5 it seems to cap at around 10-12mb inbound on ether1 and starts to drop pings, cpu and memory slowly climbs.

Interesting because on my router the exact same command does not produce the cable-pairs: line. Any suggestions?
I think I figured out the problem. It seems that the cable-test will not work if the ethernet switch port is a master-port for other switch ports. When the switch port is a master port, the status shows up as "link-ok" even if the physical port has no device connected. When in the link-ok state, the cable-test will not report the cable-pairs. I wonder if this is a bug?

Did anyone get the cable diagnostics to work on a RB2011UAS-2HnD?
Yes it works.
[admin@bumba] > /interface ethernet cable-test 0
         name: ether1
       status: no-link
  cable-pairs: open:0,open:0,open:0,open:0

More interesting is that it works well on one of my RB2011UAS-2HnD and it doesn't on another one :D . Both are running v6.0rc5. Only difference is that the one (that has this feature working) has bridged ports and second one (on which this feature doesn't work) has switched ports (using "master port" option).

Correction: It was on v6.0rc4. Now it doesn't work on both.

i also tested UPS support on RB493G ROSv6_rc4 and there works without problem.

the card itself isn't reporting the name of the chip, so we show generic driver that is used. it will not always match with the actual chipset.

If anyone is posting Winbox problems, make sure you are tesing with latest Winbox.exe from the RC5 router, and that you are using The IP ADDRESS TO CONNECT. MAC connection is not stable, and don't use it unless IP connection is not available.

Thanks for the suggestion, after downloading fresh Winbox.exe (123KB) no changes to my RX Drops problem. Still the same -- all stats are zero in "RX Stats" tab of an interface, nonzero and raising in Interface List window... (so far on RB433AH, RB411AR, RB411UAHR, RB532, on VLAN, Bridge and plain Ethernet). See my previous post above for screenshot and details.

Reverse Path Filtering finally implemented! Thanks Mikrotik :)
After updating a few routers to 6.0rc5 I observe "RX Drops" which weren't counted in 5.21.
Mikrotik support answered me that RX Drops represent packets that were received by the router, but weren't destined for it. So it's nothing new, it just started to count them properly :-)

I cannot find ROS v6.0rc5 tile package download on MikroTik web site for new CCR devices. I'm looking for extra package: NTP. Is this something that has to be addressed through MikroTik support?

Thanks.

This development site you are talking about, is it for "selected" people only? I don't think I have seen such before.

Write support@mikrotik.com to access pre-release version http://www.mikrotik.com/download/share/ ... 6.0rc6.npk

MT support - CCR is already at end users. Put the download link on main page (rc5 or rc6)

upgraded from 5.7 directly to 6rc5 on a RB1100AHx2.
Ethernet1 (first physical port) went missing from my configuration, ie was not to be seen in winbox (lucky I was connected via a different port)
The port was configuered as a slave on a bonding interface.. it was missing there to and could not be seen to re-select.
Downgraded back to 5.22... like "magic" ethernet port was visiable again.
Can send rif file if wanted .
