FTP Server

Sat Aug 21, 2004 5:01 am

Is there a way to use a secondary or slave hard drive as an FTP server on RouterOS with restricted access to certain directories etc.

Thanks,
Guy

Lastguru, your answer is very confusing, now I am not sure if this will work or not. You must try to give a straightforward answer leaving the receipient in no doubt as to your meaning...

How about using seperate device like routerboard 220, with hard drive attached? What software could I run on the board? Basically, I want a rugged ftp server that can live in an attic.

Thanks,
Guy

Another option would be to install another NIC in you MT router with it's own network, and attach a ftp server to that port. You could limit access to the outside world as well and only allow auth'ed users access.

You can run RouterOS as an FTP server, but only on the system disk and without permission management - you can just enable or disable FTP access for some users.

to GJS:
You can use RB as a FTP server. Just attach a hdd:) AFAIK, RB supports Linux (a sample distro can be obtained from: http://www.routerboard.com/archive.html) and FreeBSD
