RouterOS v6rc10 pre-released

Fri Feb 15, 2013 3:52 pm

What's new in 6.0rc10 (2013-Feb-15 10:47):

HotSpot server requires "address-list" configured to work properly

*) ppp - added bridge-path-cost & bridge-port-priority to ppp profiles;
*) ppp - made RSTP work over ppp links as well;
*) ppp - added last-logged-out to ppp secrets;
*) ppp - made MRRU work propererly on CCR;
*) hotspot, ppp - support multiple address-lists;
*) fixed problem - could not format disks larger than 2Gb on CCR;
*) fixed problem - repartitioning flash second time made system unbootable;
*) fixed problem - partition fall back settings got corrupted;
*) fixed problem - package made for other architectures could be installed,
making whole system non functioning;
*) sstp, ipsec - respect CRLs;
*) certificates - for certificates marked as trusted=yes,
CRL will be automaticly updated once in hour from http sources;
*) fixed ppp family interfaces - show it's status (bug introduced in rc8);
*) fixed p2p, connection-bytes firewall matcher;
*) fixed ip firewall nat action=same;

Upgrade includes several stability improvements for Cloud Core Routers.

*) hotspot, ppp - support multiple address-lists;
wow! AFAIR, I was talking about this on some EU MUM in '10 or '11 - it's time to pack up my back pack for Zagreb and generate new ideas :D

how should RADIUS send several address-lists to the router? as separate value pairs of the same name?

warning on download page: Hotspot not working
Is it a bug in RC10 or hotspot is not implemented in v.6 RC at all? I've started to upgrade routers from 5.x to 6rc9 except those with hotspot function. I had a plan to upgrade them with 6rc10, but now I see that will not work.

I thing it is bug in rc10. In rc9 hotspot works

What is the option of multiple address-lists in hotspot and ppp? How can it be used?

I thought that the p2p matcher was somehow abandoned since the complicated nature of nowadays p2p clients.
What has been improved in here? (I doubt encrypted p2p connections are matched)

There is only main package (.npk) now, marked as "pre-release". It seems like RC10 was canceled because of some issues, so we should wait.

I've upgraded my RB493G without any problems, maybe I'm lucky one :)

to MT:

Just wondering ... how many rc versions can we expect before final 6.0 comes out? 10? 20? 30? ... is there any timeline by when final version should be released or will this rcXX go on and on and on and on and on and on and on ....

yes, I could be described as impatient but anyway... keep up the good work adding new features (EIGRP please) and removing the bugs from ROS 5 and 6.

Great, checking CRL was a must that many of us were waiting for.

What is the option of multiple address-lists in hotspot and ppp? How can it be used?
for example, you set some general traffic limit for all clients, but few of them are allowed/disallowed to use some resources - and you set it via one more address list
I need help, I need the quues tree functions, global out, and in global, and global total, however do not have the RC9?, in version 5.22 has my works normal full cache without them without full cache.
in v6, there's only 'global' parent, use it (they said, it was 'global-total' in v5, but, as far as I remember, there were some corrections later, so probably now it's what was 'global-out' previously)

In RouterOS ver. 6.x 'global-in' and 'global-out' were replaced by 'global', hence link to packet flow diagram.
Just compare differences between ROS 5.x and 6.x.

Me too - everything was ok on RB493G and a pair of SXT 5HPnD.
What am I doing wrong?
Nothing - you did it right, but there was probably something wrong in RoS update system. Or maybe - what about "Free HDD space"? You use some extra packages and maybe there was not enough free space... Hmmm, your system says it has 512 MiB HDD? I don't have RB433AH, but I thought all of RB433xx have 64 MiB (as my RB433). :-?

Try to delete unnecessary files, download main package (http://download2.mikrotik.com/routeros/ ... .0rc10.npk) manually, then press System -> Packages -> Downgrade.

The procedure itself isn't the problem. It is something wrong with the services. As you also see SSH is invalid.

I'm newbee in Microtik and RouterBOARD. Need your help.
I ve bought RB751G-2HnD - configure - all works - update up to v6rc10 - but have some troubles with http proxy from v5 until v6rc10.
All works - but when router has big loading (2-3 users with a lot of http queries) it goes into reboot. In logs I see only:
jan/02/1970 03:01:16 system,error,critical router was rebooted without proper shutdown by watchdog timer
Thats all. If want some more logs or switch on loglevel - please give link where I can read how to make it - I will attach all data to find the issue and make RouterOS better.

RB433UAH (power 24V 2A)

RouterOS + MetaROUTER (opendchub,web server) > uptime 3h KO!,destroy,broken,died, no work proxy, >> reboot OK
can you fgive any more details about configuration apart form what you have written (metarouter dies after 3 hour uptime)?

I already wrote here a few times

RouterOS + enable MetaROUTER >> random KO RouterOS routerboard,frost services RouterOS (MetaROUTER still functional) = unusable
RouterOS + down inactive MetaROUTER >> quite reliable, problems are not

ok, on what router is this? i have tried on MIPS and PPC router and have no issues running it. Can you give any details on what exactly you are attempting to do. (Also what guest you are running, have you tried to run RouterOS)?

Overall tried, however the simple quues not let pass the speed quue tree, would be a bug?
sorry, I don't understand you. but as far as I remember, in v6 simple queues and queue tree are processed separately, so you cannot catch traffic in queue tree by simple queue

On RC10 I am having issues with hotspots not allowing users to authenticate. Seems to claim radius server problem even though I am not using an external radius server. I am also having issues with PPPoE server handing out IPv6. It does not seem to bind the correct /64 to the PPPoE session out of the /48 IPv6 pool I am using.

I think this is a known issue

I can't assign more LEDs to show signal level on SXT, RoS v6RC10:
/system leds add interface=wlan type=wireless-signal-strength leds=led1,led2,led3,led4,led5
failure: Maximum led group size reached, only one led per action available!
Is it a bug? This command is working on RC9 - but I don't know if the LEDs are really on. I'm sure it was working in ROS 5.x.

hello,

since release .10, openvpn server @ rb2011 isnt working anymore.

ive already cleaned my certificates, renewed them and so on..

my mac client ( /w tunnelblick ) always says:

no one has pressed the disconnect button ;)

my next step will be downgrading to rc .9

any ideas ?

cheers

I can confirm openvpn does not work on rc10.

I believe this change was a major mistake:
*) global-in, global-out, global-total parent in /queue tree is
   replaced with global that is equivalent to global-total in v5;
everything related to cache server stopped and I've done everything without any hope only go back to OS 5.

Ok, i show you my code, you make this work on os 6 and i will be ready to test it.
mangle
chain=prerouting action=mark-packet new-packet-mark=cache passthrough=no dscp=12

nat
chain=dstnat action=dst-nat to-addresses=10.10.10.250 to-ports=8080 protocol=tcp src-address=192.168.0.0/16 dst-port=80

queue tree
name="Cache" parent=global-out packet-mark=cache limit-at=0 queue=default priority=8 max-limit=0 burst-limit=0 burst-threshold=0 burst-time=0s

But please make sure you provide a working code not just to test, as you know i must stop all services to first upgrade the system and then implement your code. and if it didn't work i then must downgrade and recode it back..... you know all this is time related for every subscriber. !!!

thank you,

use Backup functionality :)

do you use simple queues for limiting your customers? seems that it's the actual problem, not the 'global' itself: AFAIR, now Simple Queues and Queue Tree are separated and cannot affect each other. you need to create Simple queue for Cache traffic

p.s. describe your problems, do not make others to just guess it...

I have a RB751U-2HnD running NAT to a PPPoE Connection on v6rc10

After a while (say 5-6 Hours) the web server gets slow and starts to kick me out of the web interface all the time.
Then after a day or so the web server is not available at all. There is no excess memory usage. nothing in logs.

Winbox and ssh access work fine.

When I was running V5 on the router there was no problems at all and the web interface worked all the time.

There is the big problem after upgrading RouterOS rc9 to rc10.

All information (screenshots and support files) in the attached zip.

On rc10 after reboot some settings dissapeared.

Brige interface dissapeares, pridge ports dissapears, dhcp on bridge "LANs" settings stop working, ip on bridge "LANs" stops working AFTER REBOOT !!!
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

you are correct, I do use simple queues but using PCQ as its type! if global in and global out was eliminated should simple queue be unuseful at all?

I just wish to follow every upgrade you guys make, but at this particular situation I am not able anymore!
either you guys have to do a rework, or i have to find a different route. either way a word must be said to make it noteable.

thanks,

Re: RouterOS v6rc10 pre-released

"global-out" and "global-in" was merged into "global" for performance reasons.
Simple queue was moved to separate independent place just after "global" - this way eliminating century old problem of remembering that simple queues shared "global-in" and "global-out" with queue tree queues placed there, also adding back some of the functionality that might be lost because of "global-in" and "global-out" merger.

So if you had some complex queuing going - you should adjust to these changes.

In case of web-proxy - if you like to avoid limiting proxy traffic or place a separate limitation to it - just use mangle to capture that traffic and place a simple queue for that mark before your regular simple queues. in v6.x simple queues is still working in order, so if packet is captured by first queue it will not go to other queues.

In general QoS in v6.x is much more easy than it was in previous versions. especially when you have to explain it from zero.

Hello guys,

If the option change-mss is enabled on PPPoE profile the dynamic simple queue doesn't work properly.
The lab:

PPPoE-Server(Mikrotik x86) -> PPPoE-Client (Ubuntu Linux)
No radius, no usermanager.

We first established five connections with 10 Mbps each one (50 Mbps). Ok queue works great, so we put more five connections and the queue still working properly (100 Mbps), more five (150 Mbps)... still working... but after more five connections (200 Mbps), the traffic on the server was at 500+ Mbps.

Could you please check this?
Thank you very much!

Hello.

In 6rc10 is possible to add more than one Address List in ppp profile, but when i send same parameter from radius, string addresslist1,addresslist2 received as single word, that lead to adding one new address list with name "addresslist1,addresslist2"

There is debug log:

09:02:58 radius,debug,packet MT-Address-List = "addresslist1,addresslist2"

There is config print

5303 D addresslist1,addresslist2 10.0.130.97

Seems this is a bug?

Not happy - I purchased over 50 MT routers in the last 24 months and have been very happy. I sent a guy from the office to MUM in New Orleans and he was wowed by the new Cloud Core Routers. I purchased two of them for a large scale VPN solution and also 60 MT750GL routers. The CC-1036 came with RC6 and had tons of OVPN and certificate issues. The latest release still has the same problems - opens OPVN session for 20 seconds then drops. What am I to do? I've depended on and been happy with Mikrotik's until now - I'm stuck holding the bag for all of these devices until I can get it working?

With lack of UDP on OVPN and the money I have tied up right now I want to know when I can expect a functional CC and OVPN solution. I've even ordered a few Ubiquiti EdgeMax LITE routers just to see what else is out there.

Before I purchased our CCR1036 I knew very well that these were not for production environments and that the software was not release quality yet, having said that I too would like to see UDP in ovpn and more stability under heavy load on the CCR, this is by far the most powerful router MikroTik have made on a brand new hardware platform, it was never going to work perfectly 'out the box'. We need to support MikroTik while they work out all the bugs and increase stability and performance, so far I'm impressed with what I see. (except Ticket#2013012466000127 still no solution!).

Have you provided config, supout files and verbose logs (both ends) of the issue to MikroTik when the ovpn session drops?

I have done what I have been asked to do - saying we should "support them" doesn't mean I should pay and be their guinea pig on beta code for released hardware with my money. What would Juniper and Cisco do - sell hardware to the masses and then work on software afterwards??

How did you know the product wasn't for production environments? Did something in the product description tell you it wasn't ready for prime time?

It's written on the distributors website where I bought our CCR: "Please note that the CCRs run RouterOS 6 which is not fully released yet. It is not recommended to use the CCRs in production until it is fully released." I also read this forum so I was aware of many issues.

I moved the 60 second timer on the OVPN server config after upgrading to RC10 and now the sessions stay up past the 20 second timeout I was seeing earlier - clearly this is come sort of counter bug.

I hope they get this worked out - I really don't want to purchase some vendors "industrial PC" MT box and hope for the best. Later!

PUT UDP SUPPORT INTO ROUTEROS NOW NOW NOW!!!!

The same is also on our own web site. And other distributors tell you the same too. The initially available batch (all units currently out there) are sold as "pre production testing batch"
