Exactly what is the problem with RTL 8169 baset network interface cards?
NICs either support VLAN tagging in hardware or handle long frames properly. Some NICs use software emulation that causes a reduced MTU which may lead to problems.
Some NICs support polling mode to improve performance by reducing interrupt overhead, at the expense of a slightly increased forwarding delay.
Is there any cards that someone can recommend, or should I forget those RTL 8169 based cards?
This is not for production use and I know what card is best for that. I need the cheapest working Gigabit NIC which is also reasonable reliable.
