SXT Lite

Mon Feb 25, 2013 11:54 pm

I purchased a couple of brand new SXT lite's, I took them out to a new install, did a scan as normal so that I could lock onto the ap with the best signal and all the SXT picked up on the scan was personal routers. After an hour of checking and re-checking settings I was never able to see any of my A.P.'s.

We use a script to program all CPE's and I loaded the exact script onto a r/b711 2HnD with an itelite mimo antenna and it worked perfectly. I have tried the SXT Lite on multiple towers and AP's now and still have the same problem. I do not have this issue with the regular SXT's only the LITE model.

Please Help,

Thanks in advance

Are you sure you have the correct SXT model? There are two - 2GHz and 5GHz model. If all you see if local home routers, maybe you have the 2GHz SXT and your own APs are 5GHz ?

Normis, Thanks for looking into my question as I do need help.

I have all 2.4 ap's. The SXT I am using is SXT r2 2nD. Yesterday I did some more test with them. I will list what I did.

1. Got clear line of site from one of my towers, about 100yds away.
2. Loaded script.
3.Scanned for ap.
4. Did the same procedure with another SXT r2 nD to make sure it wasn't just a faulty component.
5. I had the same results (never showed my ap on the scan.)

I then did the exact same procedure with a SXT G-2HnD and it worked perfectly.

Thanks again for any ideas.

Tried with all factory configurations with the same result. I am going to send my script and rif file to support.

Thanks again

I can confirm this. We received 4 of the new SXT lights this week and they all exhibit the same thing you describe, we tried with the latest 5.24 and FW and downgraded a few versions also with the same results.

When you do a scan in 10Mhz channel width the SXT r2 2nD will only show 20Mhz access points but will show them on 10 to 12 10Mhz channels. So it will show a single 20Mhz AP taking up the entire 2.4Ghz spectrum and won't show a single AP that is actually set to 10Mhz channel width.

With 6.0R13 they still won't connect to any of our AP's but they don't have the issue of showing a 20Mhz AP operating on 10-12 Mhz channels.. We are just going to RMA these as we don't have time to deal with it. I guess I should learn not to buy anything from MT until it has been out for 6 months or so.

Chadd, this is a known issue - SXT lite doesn't support narrow channels. Upgrade to RouterOS v6rc12 for a fix. Here is a line in the changelog:

*) wireless - added support for small channels on SXT lite;

I did upgrade the lite to the latest V6rc but the SXT still won't associate to our 5.x 10Mhz AP's and we really don't trust using RC for a production network so we have no plans of moving our AP's to RC at this point in time.

Will V6 not associate to V5?

Do you have plans on releasing a fix for these to work with V5?

Seems odd that you would ship these with V5.22 installed when they clearly won't work.

Small channel feature is only suppored on certain devices, as it stands, SXT lite is not one of them. A workaround is included in v6, if you really need it.

Does the AP need to be upgraded to V6 in order for a V6 SXT lite to associate to it?

What device and version you are using for the AP?
What band you use for that channel width? b, b/g or b/g/n? Can you see the AP when you do a scan?

I am using RB433 with the Mikrotik 2Hn radio's running 5.14. I just received a batch of STX Lite 2's and when trying to connect them it would only scan and connect to 20mhz channels. I was a bit baffled. Then after some forum searching saw this post and downloaded the current 6.x beta to the STX Lite 2 and it then could scan, connect and work normally. On a 10mhz vertical pol system.

The reason I am using it in this configuration is that I plan to replace most of my close range units with the Lite 2's and eventually change out the ap to support dual chain. But at the moment I have a mixed system with not a lot of cash to just upgrade everything at once.

This will also free up some arc wireless antenna/enclosures with RB411/rb711's for longer range service connecting to several ap's that I have on mountain tops.

Uldis,

We have still be unable to get these to connect to our AP's running on 10Mhz Channels, our AP's are all running some version of 5.xx and have tried on AP's running 5.24 also. I have sent in support files from one of the AP's and one of the SXT lites but have not heard anything back yet. Is there any chance you could check into it for me? If we don't figure it out soon I need to get them RMAed.

The ticket number is Ticket#2013040466000151

Thanks,
Chadd

I'm have problem with connect SXT 5HnD with new SXT Lite5

Lite5 purchased as replace to 5HnD on this link (old 5HnD broken)

SXT 5HnD wireless settings:
Mode - bridge
Band - 5GHz-only-N
Channel width - 10MHz
Freq - 5220
Wireless protocol - nv2
Freq mode - manual_tx_power
ROS - 5.24

SXT Lite5 wireless settings:
Mode - station bridge
Band - 5GHz-only-N
Channel width - 10MHz
Freq - 5220
Scan list - 5100-5300
Wireless protocol - nv2
Freq mode - manual_tx_power
ROS - 5.25

Scan from Lite5 not see 5HnD.
When i'm set Lite5 as bridge scan from 5HnD not see Lite5 too.

Lite5 not compatible with 5HnD in 802.11n / 10 MHz / nv2 mode?

Maybe the AP runs at some frequency not supported in your "regulatory domain: Croatia"? Did you try other wireless modes? What config does the AP have?

please contact support@mikrotik.com with a support output file from sxt lite that can't connect to the AP when you have specified in the configuration. Also provide us support output file from the AP so we could check the AP configuration.
