I'm replacing one of my old towers with a brand new one, going from routed Orinoco equipment to non-routed Tranzeo backhaul and AP equipment. I plan to use a Mikrotik unit of some kind, but need a hardware recommendation.
The tower will have 54 megabits incoming, and three outgoing 54 megabit links. All three will be feeding 11 megabit access points on their own class C's. One of these far sites will be feeding some more downstream sites. On the new tower site, I will have at least 4 maybe five routed Class C's, so I was thinking an RB500 with the 4-port daughterboard giving me 6 routable ethernet ports.
The question is, can the RB500 support this many class C's, this much traffic, routing, fairness queuing, a simple queue to enforce the limit of the 11Mb Ap's on each class, and limiting p2p-all marked packets at the same time? While enduring -40 to +120 degrees F? I'd put a PC there, but I doubt it would survive the cold or the heat.
