I am currently watching a live interview with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel. There was a question about data security and data espionage and what she wants to do to guarantee internet user security in their country. She mentioned risk of data security breach, foreign data security law, etc.

To the point: she admitted, that Germany and Europe lost its competitive advantage over USA in the field of routing hardware and cloud services, and that Europe is too much dependant on USA manufacturers and service operators. In order to become more self reliant Europe should invest much more in R&D in hardware and cloud services. She even used the word 'router' explicitly.

I am wondering if Germany is going to start producing routers soon? Nonetheless this confims what flourishing market Mikrotik operates in!

Apologies to everyone who feels reading this was a waste of time.

I think what your Chancellor is alluding is too how much of the cloud startups are primarily US based and operate in US foreign soil. The fact that their own citizens private data is backed up and synced into foreign servers where inspection of said data is a NSA permit away probably makes them uneasy.

On the routing side I think , the rest of the Euro/America networking manu's need to fear the big Indian/Chinese players like CyberRoam , Hauwei and ZTE that have gigantic budgets and sell products at rock bottom prices.
