I missed the first presentation :(
There was some news about new 24 port Cloud Core Router Switch? When will be ready???

And when will make a router with ~8 Ethernet port with POE output? Like ubiquiti.

I got that, too. The guy mentioned something about a new product and then the stream ended.

Normis: When will the mAP be available? Where can we get more info on it. Looks like a pretty cool little device.

All videos will be on tiktube in around 2 weeks (because we continue our travel to Mexico MUM after the USA MUM).

mAP will be available in beginning of 2014

Normis - What means "New Atheros “Scorpion” CPU"

It is mipsbe, powerPC, or? How many Mhz?

Normis,
Image from projector on the wall is way to bright to watch online, it is impossible to see almost anything,
could someone reduce the exposure settings on the web camera?

Maybe change a little the angle and distance of the camera.
Tomorrow for the Janis presentation, please get a better projector with a bigger image. Now with a white background can' t see the texts.

Atheros is in fact Qualcomm Atheros, after Qualcomm bought Atheros a couple of years ago.

And Qualcomm's first Snapdragon processor was dubbed Scorpion. It was based on the ARMv7 instruction set and similar in architecture to the ARM Cortex-A8 with some multimedia SIMD extensions.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorpion_(CPU)

I can find references to single core Scorpion SoCs with 0.8 - 1.4 GHz and dual cores with up to 1.7 GHz that have been used / are used in smartphones and tablets.

Maybe they're re-using the core in a new networking chip.

So the new RB953 is ARM based.

Nice move.

Normis, "QRT G" is a dual pool antenna?

It would be perfect in a "23dB" "5Ghz" version. Is that possible?

Then it's either not Scorpion-based or QA chose to use the nickname again for another (Not yet official?) architecture - which would mark the first time (afaik) that a vendor does so.

my guess is - Atheros had this in works when Qualcomm acquired them. For us - nickname just stuck.

Good idea! I just hope for them they didn't pay $3.3bn just fro some naming rights ;-)

Is the QRT G going to be just plastic like the SXT/SEXTANT/OmniTik/912G Outdoor or is it going to have some sort of RF Shielding? That has been the main obstacle preventing me from pursuing the Routerboard's integrated radios.

RB953GS-5HnT will have 3 chain 5GHz wireless, does that mean that this will be 802.11ac ?

Will CRS be able to deliver "Wire Speed" on all ports so it can be used as a "Coreswitch" in a bigger network?

Is there any limitations in the chip how much it can process effectivly?

Will it run SwitchOS or (preferably;) ) RouterOS?

And most important: When will it be available?? :)

No, according to link provided by Normis:
The new reference platform features the QCA9558 dual-band, 3-stream 802.11n system-on-chip (SoC)

CRS runs RouterOS, and will have new Switch related settings. It will be wire speed because, well, it's a switch :)

Normis, which CPU does have CRS?
CRS is like RB911 with a smart switch attached, so CPU is like RB911

Can CRS work as 24 port router and that he's not used as switch? Will ROS see all 24 ports?

Re: MUM Live video from St. Louis starting now!

by macgaiver
have you ever used switching in other RB products? RB2011? RB951? RB751? RB450? etc

CRS will have similar implementation - only with 24 ports and with some additional features.

Also as Normis stated is 2-in-1 device (RB911 + manageable switch), so IF not used as switch total trougput will be limited to 1Gbps full duplex

I hope that we will see a little better processor in CRS, in some close future. It doesn't have to be like the one in CCR serie but 1 GHz or 1 GHz dual core would be perfect for our FTTB project.

Hi Normis

Can you elaborate a bit more on the CCR 1009 ?

Scheduled release date ? Price range...more or less than a CCR1016 ?

Some specs sheet maybe ? :)

I see the mAP appears to take a standard DC input jack. Will this device allow for ESD grounding via the ethernet drain wire? Or, is there an alternative approach?

It looks more like an indoor device.

RB953GS-5HnT
But what kind of device is the RB953GS-5HnT or what is the main usage of this device?
Is it a small router or more a WLAN AP (CPE) device?

CCR1009
The CCR1009 looks really great but is the TILE-Gx9 platform sorted wit a high
speed encryption engine called MiCA or is this a variant without MiCA?
And how many RAM can be inserted as a maximum?

But all in all, yes, good work, well done MikroTik!

P.S.
@normis
Under the link you where showing up to Qualcomm-Atheros, they where making the following press statement:
"By pairing the QCA9880 802.11ac radio with the QCA9558 802.11n SoC, networking OEMs can build cost-effective
and power-efficient 802.11ac-enabled products that are capable of aggregate PHY rates of up to 1.7 Gbps."

How can this be paired?
As I understand it right now, MikroTik was inserting the "QCA9558 802.11n SoC" inside of the RB953GS-5HnT
and if we find a mini PCIe wifi card with the QCA9880 802.11ac chip set we will able to get 1.7 GBit/s throughput?
Or do I miss understanding something? And the RB953GS-5HnT is also capable to hold 3G/UMTS modems
also with GPS support? I mean can the GPS signal be used by MikroTik clients?

Well done MikroTik!
RB953GS-5HnT From Tower Fm is Great use SFP instead of UTP
I will change many 433ah from my backbone if your processor is more faster

CCR1009 =looks great

mAP= looks great to sell with of service

QRT G= want But 5GHz maybe 23 dBi or More

Yes, absolutely - I took that viewpoint too. Similar in concept to UBNT's AirGateway, running a full RouterOS.

My question was what do we do with the ESD from the outdoor antenna (e.g.: SXT)? It looks like there's metal ethernet jacks on the mAP which means we can ground the external device into the mAP using metal ethernet connectors and ethernet cable with a drain wire - nice and simple! My question is whether the mAP has a grounding mechanism to discharge the static (eg: mains earthing)?

Also would like to join the collective in saying well done MikroTik for these new products! I really like the whole range of integrated radio devices.

Rich

Yes, but this pairing is with a chip that RB953 doesn't use. So it doesn't apply to this product.

unable to confirm this right now

it has so many ports, that you can use it for different purposes. SFP could be used to go up the tower for long distances. or can be used indoors like a router. It will have multiple wlan interfaces, so CPE/AP/Sector is also possible. Depends on what you need - it can do it all.

A couple questions about the QRT.
  • Does it have 1 or 2 ethernet ports?
  • If 2, does the 2nd port provide passive POE?
