Enterprise Network

Wed Oct 02, 2013 9:32 am

Hello.

Im under education, and have been given a task to design the schools Network with a Group.

Right now the choice is it at the Cisco 7600 Serie routers, but they are just extremely expensive!

I know the CloudCore router from Mikrotik - and it really performs amazing!

So here is the question...

We will be needing Routers for our Core layer.
They must be able to run EIGRP (Can mikrotik do that?)
There will be a need for VoIP and i think we are going with the Cisco Call manager - and i believe its still cheaper to buy routers seperately for the this task instead of 2 Cisco 7600 Serie routers.

Am i wrong at this point or?

They can't use EIGRP. Cisco has recently opened the EIGRP protocol so maybe soon.

7600 seems too much. How about asr9k or one of the 7200 series? Or a 6500?

If you do mt, you will have to use ospf instead of eigrp.
