I hope ROS 7 comes early with:

- 802.11ac support
- NV2 latency improved and stable jitter
- DUAL NSTREME stable with N and AC cards

The 802.11ac is likely for the v7, all the rest is just an usual bug creation and fixing business with no reason to have the v7 for that.

I dont care how long it takes, as long as it is stable.

I would guess v7 will be announced at the Europe MUM early next year due to new features e.g. Wireless Controller, "New Routing", IPS based L7 filters

Mikrotik should make it available to long term power users for initial beta testing, to the current "Try Development Version" users for RC phase, and only to general users once it appears to be stable.

RouterOS v7 > 2015-2016

A high number means a lot of mistakes from the beginning :D

new enhancements and features are going to add at any time independently of the main version number

I hope RouterOS 7 comes with advanced DNS features, such as MX, TXT, CNAME records and other related missing features.

sergejs said "MikroTik RouterOS is not advanced DNS server, you have to use specific DNS server for such tasks."

Yeah, I know, but.... this would not be good?

No not really. Lets let mikrotik focus on jobs for routers instead. Like routing, qos and security and their old favourite wireless

It depends. Perhaps not full-blown DNS server, because then people could expect things like DNSSEC and everything. And yes, it might look like too much for router. Although with "it's more than just a router" philosophy, I can surely imagine it as separate package. I'm just not sure if there's enough demand for it (and I'm leaning to "probably not"), to justify making it.

But if it's about adding support for static records of few other types, in addition to already supported A and AAAA, then why not? Almost everything is there already, the whole DNS cache, concept of static records, ... All you need is one programmer who doesn't feel like doing anything big after dinner and he can write the rest before he goes home. ;)

We have now ros 6.6rc1. First alfa of ros7 should appear in Q3 of 2014. It'll be stable in Q4 2015. Ros 6.x isn't enough stable yet.
But 802.11ac can be available in ros6. Now many routers have 802.11ac.

PS Thank you for support for Intel 10GE.
In anticipation on new The Dude release.

If you know the MT then whatever latest version is stable by definition - you'll get support only if you use latest available version.

omg, I Hope that is not the service we should expect from you, nor from MT. That might be the attitude that lead to v6 and we see in these forums how many bugs went into this branch.

Before talking about a V7, let's focus on having a functional V6. Right now the only stable version is V5, V6 is still buggy, every new release corrects new bugs but creates new ones too that are a stopper.

Well, when possible, I sometimes do make miracles in no time. :) <- this is a smiley, i.e. don't take the sentence too seriously
I agree with you that generally such relaxed "no problem" attitude might lead to very bad results. Yet everything doesn't necessarily have to take long time, some things can be done fast, without compromises on quality, because they are simply easy. And in this specific case, it isn't hard. RouterOS already has DNS cache. It already supports caching/storing all required record types. It also supports static records of some types. I can't imagine what would anyone familar with existing code do with it for more than few hours.

Likes other said:
- 802.11ac support
- NV2 latency improved and stable jitter
- DUAL NSTREME stable with N and AC cards

And on top from me,
- all problems from v5 and v6 fixed and solved out! all is stable running!
- all types of vpn working smooth
- RouterOS on CCR is using all cores
- RouterOS x86 would be using all cores and HT cores
- RouterOS x86 is stable running on Alix APU & Soekris net6501 + Soekris net6801
Kindly regards
