Upgrade is not danger butt if IPSec is changed can you loose your connection and reconfiguration mayby possible.

A lot of PPP stuff is broken in 6.9. If you don't use pptp/sstp, then everything else (non-ppp stuff) appears to be working fine.

Try for yourself ... make a backup of your router and upgrade it to latest version, you can still downgrade if you find issues that affect your system. There are some changes in configurations that you may need to reconfigure, like simple queues but this is not a bug. I have read many bad things about v6.9 but for me it works well and I don't have issues other people are experiencing like high cpu usage on 711, dhcp not working on vlans, ipsec broken ... all of those things work fine with my stuff, so if you are thinking about upgrade and would like to try features new versions have I say go for it ... you can still downgrade if it doesn't work out well for you.
