pppoe stops passing traffic

Thu May 08, 2014 1:03 pm

Hello,

We have a serious issue with PPPoE client in RouterOS.

At random intervals, the PPPoE client stops passing traffic.
Seen from the PPPoE server side, it is still connected, but no data is passing.
After a few hours it reconnects, then everything is back to normal.
If disconnected from the server side manually, it reconnects, and back to normal again.

I have created a script to check an external IP address with ping, and disable-enable the PPPoE client if necessary.
It seems to work in most cases, however not always. (In this cases I cannot even see a log entry about disabling and enabling the interface.)

We have this issue with two RB750GLs, tried with RouterOS v6.10, v6.12 and v6.13rc12. All of these have the problem.

Has anybody seen something similar?

What port are you running PPPoE client on?
I am running it on ether1. I have RB2011s running fine at other sites with v6.10, where PPPoE client is on ether6.

I wonder if this is fixed in v6.13. Cannot see it in the changelog... :(
Downgrading to v6.0 seems to be a fine workaround.
