Time on log screen unreadable.

Fri May 23, 2014 6:29 pm

When I use winbox to view the log screen on my Windows 7 laptop, the time field is truncated. It will show something like 07:4...

This started with version 6. Routers with V5 ROS show the log screen correctly.

Winbox doesn't allow the column sizes to be changed on the log screen

Is there a way to fix this?

Sorry. I have adjusted the screen size several times and can't find any combination that corrects the problem.

I not talk about size (1024x768, 800x600 etc.) but about DPI: 100%, 110%, 120% etc.

This will be fixed in the next Winbox version that will be released in 2-3 weeks. New winbox will have resizable log columns and some other new features.

Thanks for the upcoming Fix.

I did reset the DPI to 100% and that worked except the font is too small for my old eyes. Rather than trying to find some magic settings of screen size and DPI that work, I will just wait for the fix.

the new winbox version still is b0rked with high dpi settings (Windows-7):

Even the windows option to disable scaling with high dpi values didn't help.

It looks like bigger than normal font used. Use 100% font size.

I set the dpi-scaling to 150%
This is necessary since i use a 22.5 inch monitor with 3840x2400 pixels.

Just reverting the dpi-value back to 100% is NO option.

Every choice has it's own consequence.

So bigger resolution (+ 4x HD 1920x1080) and so small character, not only you are forced to use 150% DPI...

If you are forced to use 150% DPI, simply put the video resolution to 1920x1200 and the dpi to 100% and you see all the programs how are expected to works, not only winbox

All programs I use are quite happy with my choice of 150% dpi.
For sure I will NOT revert to 1920x1200 and 100% dpi just to make winbox look good.
(If I would do so, the 4k screen would make no sense, eh?)

UltraHD-Displays are pushing into the market for a year or so.
You can now buy them for starting at 600 dollars now.
Many notebooks now also offer high dpi screens.

So I am laking understanding why winbox cannot support proper dpi-scaling.
(At least it seems to do it correctly on the left-sided menu)

I see, the issue is with UHD screens, we will see what we can do.

Thanks.

But keep in mind that this issue is not only related to UHD screens.
It is - correctly speaking - solely related to high dpi scaling.

Just imagine a administrator that is visually impaired and needs big fonts on a normal screen.

Found only this thread regarding Winbox and DPI scaling issues. Are there any changes in regards to this for the past year? I'm experiencing the same with MacBook 15" and Windows 7 running on it as second OS under Parallels. Tested Winbox 3, but scaling issue is still there.
Normis, any update is really appreciated.

Another year, still nothing new...

Is this really that hard to solve? Every other program I use can cope with my 144DPI (1920x1080 on a 13" screen) just fine.

If I switch to "default" 96 DPI I cannot see the letters, my eyes are not what they used to be :(
Anything beyond 120 DPI is problematic.

All the dialogs are just fine, but tables look awful, only top part of the line being visible.

While I agree that Winbox should be improved to better handle scaling ... I don't understand why you choose to use a monitor where 100% DPI (as it is supposed to be used) is not comfortable.

Of course it is a problem that the systems with the high DPI introduced, and that they should solve themselves.
I think modern versions of Windows allow setting of scaling to solve this problem. Somewhere in the control panel.

Font scaling is the thing that causes problems. I personally think this is a Windows issue. MacOS has no problems with it's "retina" displays. Nothing looks small and Winbox is not distorted.
