nstreme2 & RB532 - too weak ?

Mon May 22, 2006 2:43 pm

Dear all,
we have a 11km Link based on 2.9.24 on RB532.
This link uses NSTREME2 and the Wireless parameters look not so bad for 1W EIRP in 5Ghz:
  rx-signal-strength: -72dBm
  tx-signal-strength: -70dBm
             rx-rate: 36Mbps
             tx-rate: 36Mbps
           connected: yes
The link ist fixed for 36Mbit Bandwidth and has no packetloss.
We have about 2-3Mbit continous traffic on the link.
The link has about 500 to 1500 Packets per second in each direction.
Connection Tracking and all other RouterOs-Gimmicks are disabled (no queues, no firewall, just simple NSTREME2-Layer2-Bridge)

Anyway, the latency with small packets through this link ranges between 5 and 20msec, which means that there is something wrong... ?

The Latency fluctuation has nothing to do with load on the link nor is the ping responder or something else the 'weak' point. I tried in an alternate L2-Bridge over an existing SDH-Link with constant 3msec under any load situation.

So, could it be true, that RB532 has too view CPU-Power for such a task (CPU load is mostly about 35% on each end) ?

Anybody any suggestions oder Ideas ?

Kind regards from Austria,
Wolfgang
