bridge public IP's with hotspot

Mon May 29, 2006 11:56 am

I am trying to configure a hotspot which serves public IP’s to the customers.

I have a pool of 256 public IP’s.

I have configured a bridge between the interfaces ether1 and wlan1, then I have created a hotspot in the bridge interface and I have enabled proxy arp in that interface.

The IP’s that are served by the hotspot are from the public pool.

But it’s nor working, I have trouble in:

1.- Where do I have to assign the IP’s ? In the interface Bridge? In the ports?

2.- Have I to disable the masquerading that is enabled by default in the hotspot?

Where is my mistake ? regards.

How do I have to configure it?

sarenos,
ether and wlan are local interface.
probably, you don't need proxy-arp.

1) it doesn't matter, you may assing IP to bridge or any bridged interfaces (in 'ip address' menu).

2) yes, you have to disable masquerade rule.
