Hi,
I'm trying to setup simple file sharing (smb, ftp) solution using my RB951G-2HnD and 64GB usb 3.0 flash drive. The drive itself is fast - I've tested it with over 50MB/s write and 70MB/s read. Hovever, the speeds I observe with mikrotik are not very spectacular.
With smb and windows client I cannot get past 3.7MB/s when writing and 1.7MB/s when reading. When using built-in mikrotik ftp it's even worse - write speeds are heavily jumping, never exceeding 1MB/s. The read speed is again fixed at around 1.7MB/s.
I have also setup a small openwrt metarouter image with proftpd server (I need to lock users into some directory and haven't found any way to do this with built-in ftp). This metarouter is using smb to access usb drive and again, write speed is 1MB/s (without jumping) and 1.8MB when reading.
CPU usage is mostly at 100%.
My question is: am I doing something wrong or is it just the way the things are and the router just isn't capable of higher usb speeds ? There are other problems with smb under windows, but this is probably well known already.
Thanks
