pppoe and consumer wifi

Sun Aug 10, 2014 12:35 pm

Hello,

we have a client who is running a pppoe server on a ccr 1016 on 6.18.
his pppoe clients connect fine but those using a wifi router cannot connect.
mtu set to 1488 and on client wifi, mtu is set to auto; they have tried with 1480 as well.

pppoe server
authentication protocol is pap
one session per host
default profile is default

pppoe profile
remote address points to pppoe server
dns server points to locally hosted dns
tcp mss = yes
protocols are all default

now this client has about 10 clients who use different brands of wifi router and none of them can browse or do anything but they do authenticate and connect.

the outgoing port is not bridged. mtu on interface is 1500.

if there is any other info required to trouble shoot, let me know.

thanks

Have you masquerade the out interface?
/ip firewall nat
add action=masquerade chain=srcnat comment="masquerade network" disabled=no \
    out-interface=WAN src-address=x.x.x.x/xx to-addresses=0.0.0.0
