The technical specification looks very promising. There is also question about the price and implementation / development costs. I am looking forward to see the jump in mikrotik devices performance while the price will be constantly going down.

EZchip has acquired Tilera, so now Tilera customers(MKT) can have access to these NPU :-)

That looks more like a chip for CRS, not CCR.
AFAIK Mikrotik is doing all the high level networking stuff in the Linux kernel. All those firewall/mangle/qos/whatever features need to be ported to run in the NPU. Whatever feature is not supported in the NPU needs to run on main CPU. Either you have a strong main CPU, so no need for a NPU or you will have a very slow router (see CRS).

It looks like with than NPU you can create a big Cisco L3 switch class machine (e.g. 65xx) in terms of performance, but all you can do is packet routing and filtering/NAT. Everything else that is outside of the ASIC/NPU and slow (if allowed at all).
