how I can create delays in Mikrotik ?

Sat Dec 06, 2014 1:15 pm

Good day.

I want to try using Mikrotik to artificially create delays similar to those that appear when working in GSM 3G network. It is necessary to experiment with the equipment by Moxa.

For example : computer # 1 is connected to an Ethernet port No. 1 and computer # 2 is connected to an Ethernet port No. 2 . Ping from computer # 1 to computer # 2 will be less than 1 millisecond. For example: I want to ping was 100 milliseconds. Need to work delay, not only for the ICMP Protocol , but also for TCP and UDP.

Tell me how I can create such delays in Mikrotik ?

RouterOS does not have special option to set delay.
You may create artificial delays by dropping random packets in firewall (TCP will resend packets), queues, etc.

I would suggest you to do this with pfsense. On the limiter you can create delay and packet loss.
