Load Balancing ( 2 adsl - 1 lan )

Thu Jul 27, 2006 5:07 am

Hello, ( first sorry, my english is not 100% ).

I have same problem, I am trying to use 2 adsl lines ( ether2 & ether3 ).

I did this http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Load_Balancing

And because the adsl lines assigns Dynamic Ip´s, I have added static IP to the ether2 and ether3 cards.

example:
ether1: 192.168.0.1

ether2: dyn.am.ic.ip1
ether2: 10.111.0.2

ether3: dyn.am.ic.ip2
ether3: 10.112.0.2

I did a traceroute from a computer in the lan side and it reachs one of these static addresses.

is possible to use Bonding instead of this method?

Do I have to add a Masquerade between the Dynamic Ip and Static IP? or a bridge?

I need to use both lines at the same time and if one line fails the other will asume all the load. I saw the different types of Bonding and I think bonding XOR is the right one for my needs.

Can someone help me to find the right configuration for me?

The Lan side will use 4 Ip´s maximum, and I have already setup the dhcp server.

Thanks in advance,
Gilberto

Working.... almost there...

Thu Jul 27, 2006 10:18 am

Hi again,

Well, I did it, but not using DHCP Client. And this is not the best way. Maybe I could upload a new firmware to the adsl modems and use them as routers. Right now, 2 linux boxes are the routers and giving me the Fixed IP number. But I think there could be a way to use Dynamic Ip from the ADSL line. Anyone could help me please?

It works, but i will be better if I could use Dynamic Ip directly. isn't it?

Thanks in advance.
