LTE performance

Mon Jan 19, 2015 9:28 am

Dear MK enthusiasts,

I need your help to increase global performance of LTE systems.

I use SierraWireless MC7710 cards ( 2 ) on a MK routerboard. I can connect to LTE without any issue. LTE connection is very reliable, always up, re-connect in few seconds if I shutdown interface. I can reach easily 20Mbps down, 18Mbps up with a strong -63db signal. I use MAIN and AUX antenna for mimo technologie.

BUT ☺

When I make a speedtest with my cellphone ( a simple Google Nexus 5 ), same operator, 1m away of my Mikrotik LTE system, I can reach more than 50Mbps down, 40Mbps up. !!!!!! Ouahhh, it make a great difference.

So, I try to play with mikroting settings, but I’m not sure to find the good way :

- MTU for LTE inferace is 1500 : right or must I use something else ? ( and why ? )
- Is there a MSS trick ? ( not sure, there is no encapsulation )
- Other tricks ? I've no other idea.

Thanks for your help

Interesting.
I am using same MC7710 on a real (small) debian based system, with 1GHz CPU. Thruput is almost as good as on your mobile phone.
However, I had quite some work to get the newest QMI-driver running the MC7710 on my debian.
As the MC7710 can also be used in the (suppose to be) inferior DIP-mode, this might the disadvantage of Mikrotik.
MT might answer, which mode/driver they use.
