pppoe client on mikrotik with radius queues slow speed

Fri Apr 24, 2015 4:32 am

Hello,

I´v been trying to figure out a speed problem in the past weeks, but i could not ...

I have 5 ppoe test devices connected to mikrotik ppoe server with radius authentication.

Here are my tests:

- Radius service setup with 60mbits down and 3mbits up
- Client gets 13mbits down and 2.8mbits up on oakla speed test and in mikrotik i see 12 to 16mbits down. (very slow download) I have checked and there is a queue for my test client with 60/3mbits limit.

- Radius service setup with unlimited download speed and 3mbits up
- Client gets more than 60mbits download and 2.8 mbits upload.

During all tests, mikrotik cpu does not exceed 30% and i tried with v6.18, v6.24, v6.27

I tried with different routers brands and only mikrotik is causing this problem.

Anyone has the same problem ? How to fix this ?

Thanks

Create a new queue type of fifo (or modify an existing one) with Queue Size set to something more than 100 packets. Set your PPP profile to use that queue type.

Hi,

This problem keeps happening everytime.

queue speeds are correct in mikrotik but pppoe client that should have 40mbits only has 28mbits and without queue pppoe client goes up to 70mbits.

I got it working better with seting up the default-small queue pfifo with 100 packages.
