multicast over EoIP

Thu May 07, 2015 6:57 pm

Hi ,
I use the tunnel for forwarding multicast traffic to remote location, through a tunnel running video streaming when the traffic runs over 12Mbps comes to packet loss.on the router is not set queues and links are over 100Mbps.
Does anyone have an idea what I could try?

Check the MTU settings on both ends for a start.

First of all sniff packets that you are sending - what is the size of those.

Usually EOIP is created over standard Ethernet with MTU 1500, so EOIP will fragment packets to add addition Ethernet header.
I have 3-6Mbps TV stream and it is not a problem in my case.

You can try to reduce the bridge MTU to 1400 and hope that devices that send traffic will nogotiate lower MTu with path MTU discovery .

Also are your EOIP going over wireless?
