Speed problem

Fri May 15, 2015 12:46 pm

We have strange problem with speed on client RB. If I test it with btest from RB to RB everything is fine speed about 30Mbit TCP (from testing rb to clients rb), but if I test speed from clients computer connected to his RB speed is only 10-12 Mbit. We tested RB911 on clients site and RBSXT, both the same. We tested ros 6.7, 6.27, 6.28 and the latest 6.29rc20 with fasttrack enabled and the best was the latest ros, but speed still no the same as testing from rb to rb.

The only think I could imagine is problem between wireless and ethernet device on rb, because speedtest from this rb goes only thru wifi and there is no speed limitation. But I dont know where to look now. Did somebody has seen this?

Just to confirm when you running speedtest from behind the client rb are you connected through wireless or through wired connection. I have experienced an issue where by through wired I received the full bandwidth but through wireless it is around 12 to 15 mbps max.

I have tested both, trough wireless and also wired. Both are the same, that is the strange thing. I tested also test with different computers and also OS (linux, windows). Still the same.

Have you check there are no settings on your lan port limiting bandwidth. Do you have any queues running?

There are no limits and no queues, clients RB has been reset to factory defaults, with no special configuration ... Speed still the same. Do you have any other ideas?

Check for speed mismatch on ports & or duplex mismatch. See if there are any errors on the ports. Have you tried running a btest from your computer to the router. Set router up as btest server and then run from the clients lan using btest tool.

Checked that, but everything seem to be ok. Will try next week btest on local network. Will report status here. Thanks for now.
