Traffic flow (aka NetFlow)

Tue Jun 23, 2015 3:16 pm

Hi

I am looking to write some code to analyse the remote AS's that my traffic flows to/from so I can determine which networks I should request peering with, which exchanges to join, etc.

Netflow (or traffic flow as ROS calls it) is the way to do this: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/Traffic_Flow

On that page:
Currently RouterOS does not include BGP AS numbers.
However I note that the page says it refers to ROS up to v4, and that the page has not been updated for over two years.

Can anyone confirm please whether this is still the case or whether AS information is now available? If it is not, is there a plan to implement it?

Thanks, Chris

Would any Mikrotik employee care to provide some guidance on this subject, please?

Unfortunately RouterOS 5 and 6 do not export AS info in Netflow.

This has been widely requested, and Mikrotik responded that they are planning to add this functionality in RouterOS v7

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Too bad a MT employee didn't bother!

Another thing to look forward to in ROS7 then, hopefully along with multi-threaded BGP!

Sorry about that, June 23-25 is state holidays in Latvia, so we are a little more busy after them than usual.
