Hmm, weren't the IPv6 route cache size fixes already in 6.43.14?

Yes, they were already in 6.43.14. These are additional small improvements.

Don't see it in Changelog, that's why I asked...

UPD: Ah-h-h, "Expand" button, sorry, my fault :)

Which CVE is it this time? Did it at least require authorised user?
(before you start hating me, remember that I don't mind about vulnerabilities. They are everywhere. I mind, when vulnerability is silently fixed without proper disclosure)

This "improved stability on 802.11ac wireless devices" reminds me of one problem with 6.43.14. One site has quite a few wAP ac devices (QCA9550) and repeating scenario: CPU usage rises some time at weekend when no users are present and stays there (at about 5...10%). This rises temperature reading to about 70°C (from 60). When users start connecting to it on monday, CPU usage rises slightly more (but not significantly) and temperature rises quickly to >80 degrees (last maximum was 86°C) and device reboots ("device was rebooted by watchdog timer" message in log and no auto-supout file). This reboot returns everything to normal until this vicious cycle repeats itself (even CPU usage decreases to 0% after that reboot). Interestingly - if device will not reboot at this condition (sometimes watchdog does not trigger itself), then all returns "miraculously" to normal after this temperature peak at monday morning...

Deployment of new release will take some time but it will be interesting to see if this release can have any effect on this behaviour...

WAp60G reboots itself every few hours, only TX end. Fine on all previous long term just this version 6.43.15. Sent supout to support but doesn't generate an autosupout.

Downgrading back to 6.43.14 solves the issue.

However I see a LOT of memory in use suspect memory leak. Normally see about 200MB free, after a reboot you watch the memory drop about 1MB/sec

Both ends see the memory constantly dropping, gets to about 30MB after a hour. Old version okay, back to just over 200MB free and its been up 20 minutes.

Definitely a memory use bug on WAp60's

Ticket [Ticket#2019051422000737]

Cheers!

Tested on RBD52G-5HacD2HnD and some others: cannot see this on these devices.

I feel a little horrible for thinking the exact same thing when I saw a new long-term release.
Is that really where we have gotten with long-term releases?

Other than that, more stability fixes without having to deal with the major changes in the "stable" branch is always welcome.

I say that this is exactly the reason for long-term branches. There are no other changes requiring releases in long-term branches where functionality of installed ROS is adequate.

Support got back really fast.

Thank you for the report. This will be fixed in the upcoming RouterOS 6.43.16 long term version.

Keep watching 6.43.16 is coming soon.

Cheers

No wonder. Memory leak in "long-term" (previously "bug-fix") branch is ridiculous failure of their QA team.
I find it sad if we can't rely even on the most stable branch. Maybe its time to offer money for better support? If the fee is reasonable, I wouldn't have problem with it.

It is not a happy event, but no need to panic. Things like this have happened to bigger organizations, like the famous Tuesday Patch of Microsoft which used to cause more worry than security.

This change was not supposed to go into this build, it was a mistake, so we will release a version without that change ASAP.
That release will be the long-term that this one was supposed to be, long term testing and all.

I am not panicking :) I have really great time on older version while waiting for others to take the beat for me. It just feels inappropriate and sad. I realise there is way more progress recently in comparison to few years ago, but I think quantity is not a substitute for quality. Especially in long-term, update should not be released unless it is tested for a longer period of time on real devices in real conditions while closely observed by QA team. I understand when bugs happen. But that's where testers should slap developers.

Sorry for this OT.

re: patch tuesday - that was going to happen since MS fired most of their testers and started testing on insiders and normal users. Exactly for this purpose, computers on all domains which I maintain have long delay (if its win10) or simple manual updates (previous versions). I always laugh when I read article about people randomly unable to boot because of new patch :D
