v6.47.3 [stable] is released!

Thu Sep 03, 2020 12:35 pm

RouterOS version 6.47.3 has been released in public "stable" channel!

Before an upgrade:
1) Remember to make backup/export files before an upgrade and save them on another storage device;
2) Make sure the device will not lose power during upgrade process;
3) Device has enough free storage space for all RouterOS packages to be downloaded.

What's new in 6.47.3 (2020-Sep-01 05:24):

Changes in this release:

*) bridge - fixed host table update on SNMP query;
*) crs3xx - fixed hardware offloaded bonding on Ethernet interfaces for CRS354 devices;
*) crs3xx - fixed hardware offloaded MPLS forwarding when using bonding interfaces;
*) crs3xx - fixed switch ACL rules for CRS312, CRS326-24S+2Q+ and CRS354 devices;
*) crs3xx - improved Ethernet port group traffic forwarding for CRS354 devices;
*) crs3xx - improved system stability when using hardware offloaded MPLS;
*) dns - fixed multiple TXT string replies;
*) dns - hide default static entry "type" from export;
*) dot1x - fixed duplicate EAP request packets for server;
*) dot1x - fixed EAP packet version numbering;
*) ike2 - fixed local side NAT detection;
*) lte - fixed multiple passthrough APN default route installation;
*) lte - fixed RSCP value reporting;
*) lte - validate interface existence on initiation;
*) ospf - fixed disappearing NSSA default route;
*) ospf - fixed processing of "unknown" LSA type;
*) poe - fixed "power-cycle" functionality on RB960GSP;
*) routerboot - fixed etherboot FCS errors with 100Mbps rate for CRS305, CRS309 and CRS317 devices ("/system routerboard upgrade" required);
*) webfig - fixed negative value usage in "spoof-gps" parameter (introduced in v6.47.1);
*) wireless - allow setting "tx-power" up to 40;
*) wireless - fixed potential wireless driver issue related to CVE-2020-3702;

To upgrade, click "Check for updates" at /system package in your RouterOS configuration interface, or head to our download page: http://www.mikrotik.com/download

If you experience version related issues, then please send supout file from your router to support@mikrotik.com. File must be generated while router is not working as suspected or after some problem has appeared on device

Please keep this forum topic strictly related to this particular RouterOS release.

Switch CRS326-24G-2S+

Software upgrade successful from v6.47.2 TO v6.47.3 but after upgrade no longer able to login using Winbox to upgrade the firmware -- showing the following error message:
ERROR could not connect to 192.168.10.88
When using Mac Address to login returns error message:
ERROR could not connect to XX:xx:XX:32:xx:68

This condition started with v6.47.2 and now has carried over to v6.47.3

To resolve I had to remove the power supply and reinsert the power supply after which I was able to upgrade the firmware.

I might be off here but my understanding is that this is a feature in the Linux kernel and version 6 will not upgrade the kernel without major overall I think this will be a V7 feature we have to wait for,

You had the same issues with 6.47.2 if I remember correctly? I wonder if this is more for you setup. I have a couple of these switches and I do not have this problem but I run them on Long-Term. I keep all my switches on this release to not have to patch as often.

On the version 6.47.3 command repartition (e.g. "/partitions repartition partitions =3") causes the router's cyclic reboot (about every 10 seconds). On versions 6.47.x situation the same.
Reset didn't help, I've been able to repare it only with netinstall
On the version 6.46.6 this command works correctly

model: 951Ui-2HnD
revision: r2
firmware-type: ar9344
factory-firmware: 6.46.1
current-firmware: 6.47.3
upgrade-firmware: 6.47.3

@Kindis
If you read my post properly you would have noticed that I stated that this behavior started with v6.47.2 :-)
No problem with v6.47.1 insofar as using Winbox and updating software and Firmware ... issue surfaced with v.6.47.2

Normally for production Switches I would stay with Long-Term but because this is my LAB work where I want to see MikroTik issues I play the upgrade game.

I know just that I have not heard that many complain and I have not noticed this on any other units running ARM platform, equal or similar to that of CRS326-24G-2s+RM.
Could be a bug that is somehow trigged on you config during a upgrade. Have you sent a supout file to MT support so they can have a look?

Fun fact... It seems upgrading my RB4011 from 6.47.2 to 6.47.3 broke my network somehow... either a spanning tree issue or something else, as I have a loop on a remote system.. can get to the first hop, but the switch behind isn't accessible, and there's quite a lot of traffic...

*) sfp - stabilized CRS212 SFP port functionality and improved monitoring of optical modules;

After upgrade to 6.47.2 stable on CRS212 all connected SFP are "bricked".
It seem that firmware upgrade clear out SPF eeprom.

Did you tried that SFP in a other device? It could be read error.

Or did you downgraded to the previous version to see if the SFP worked again?

Of course, tried it with two different Mikoritik product and different fw version, everywhere do the same.
In other branded network device (like TPlink, Dahua) works well but no more in Mikrotik.

Three pieces of SFPs was in the device while firware upgrade was running, all of these do the same.

Hi, I'm experiencing the same behaviour as in previous versions at trying to upload files via SFTP from Mikrotik to a remote server.
/tool fetch upload=yes url="sftp://server/path/file" user=example password=example src-path=file src-address=ip
failure: only http[s]/sftp supports src-address

It is a bug... right?

wireless - allow setting "tx-power" up to 40;
is it for which WIFI models? High power can damage devices as previously stated by Mikrotik.

So far, one HAP AC2 didn't survive the update from 6.47.2 -> 6.47.3. No response via IP / RoMON. Have to check tomorrow what is going on.
Another 951Ui-2HnD took ages to come back online again, and didn't reply to pings anymore, I had to reboot the router a second time (RouterBOARD FW Update) and everything was back to normal.
I'm stopping any upgrade actions right now, and do everything else locally tomorrow.

So... I pulled out the 'backup' ethernet cable from RB4011, so only SFP+ was connected to the uplink switch (both ports part of a bridge with RSTP), and rebooted it... So far so good, even after another reboot and reconnecting the ethernet cable back. Note to self - never upgrade ROS unless you are on site.

Updated a number of devices from 6.47.2 to 6.47.3 without issue:

CCR1009-8G
CCR1009-7G
2 * CRS317
2 * RB760iGS

However, one RB4011iGS upgraded without a hitch, but my second RB4011iGS hung after updating and required a power cycle to come back.... Not great and not the first time I've had issues updating an RB4011..... The one which hung only had minimal configuration on it....

Note to self - never upgrade ROS unless you are on site.
That is why I always let it go some weeks before I upgrade, and only after testing it on a similar device that has same config and software version.

Updated three RB4011iGS+RM boxes 6.47.2 -> 6.47.3 in Winbox and all went smooth. No issues so far.
First the log window in Winbox was empty. This was solved by updating Winbox to the latest available version 3.27

I have a question regarding the release notes of v6.47.1 but that topic is locked so I post it here.
*) netinstall - removed "Flashfig" from Netinstall;
Wy is this removed? Is it comming in a seperate tool?
Will the flashfig functionality remain in RouterBoot?

Is this a new model "RB960GSP" ?

Or has the POE powercycle bug for the "RB960PGS" / hEX PoE has been fixed after more than 2 years?

Interesting, my years stable hap ac 5g needed a power cycle twice (reboots wouldn't correct it) after 6.47.2 upgrade, now I've upgraded to .3, 2 android devices wont even connect any more.

I'm seeing wireless problems with hAP ac^2 since I upgraded to 7.1beta2 and I wonder if it is the same kind of thing. After some time the devices remain connected but no traffic flows, unless they recognise a not working network and blacklist it. I only can recover with disable/enable on wlan1/2, depending on which one is failing. Usually works for 5 to 20 hours before I notice it is going on again in some or all devices, either or both interfaces.

If its stable then why all the post release issues.
Do you have a QA department (rhetorical question)!

Samsung Galaxy S8+, I didn't see anything in Log, no disconnections, but it looked like packet loss (like "DNS error" -> then in 2 seconds a page opens successfully; or cannot connect via MikroTik App to the router, 2-3 attempts later - it connects successfully).

If Mikrotik creates a new development branch called wireless-testing with propietary QCA drivers and deprecate the existing ROS WiFi implementation there wouldn't be that much problems with Mikrotik WiFi.

I know it will take time and several releases to get Mikrotik stuff like Capsman working with the new implementation but the results will be worth.

I had trouble configuring ovpn server on RB760IGS.
After set it up, when i try to connect to it, it hangs with the following error: OVNP Connection reset, restarting [0].
Downgrading to 6.45.9 (Long-term) and reconfig the ovpnserver worked instantly. It toked me 2 days to figure it out
I did the upgrade to 6.47 and it seems to work just fine.

I am expierincing Wi-Fi issues on a hap ac^2 on default wireless settings. Had no issues until 6.47.3. There are no tx/rx errors or any weird entries in the logs as far as I can tell.
Randomly the apps on every connected phone will just hang trying to access the Internet while still being connected. If left alone it won't recover until I re-connect to WiFi. It doesn't happen on all clients at the same time either but after a number of hours of being connected. Very strange stuff.

I've Winbox 3.27 on Wine (ubuntu) and I can't log in to any device after upgrading them to 6.47.3. It stays at "Logging in" and nothing is happening.
Of course, devices are accessible by in.ex. SSH but winbox is missing. From windows I still can log in. Trying older winbox didn't work.
Strange thing is that if I don't upgrade device, in.ex. from 6.47.2 to 6.47.3 I can log in by winbox (wine - ubuntu).
If I upgrade device to 6.47.3, I can't log in from ubuntu anymore.

I've Winbox 3.27 on Wine (ubuntu) and I can't log in to any device after upgrading them to 6.47.3. It stays at "Logging in" and nothing is happening.

Have you tried to restart the device again and see if it works?

Just took ownership of a Chateau lte12 (getting some wicked speeds, so pretty happy there :) ). Went to update to latest version stable version (like a good admin) failed a few times until I realise that it had shipped with a 7.0beta6 version, and Winbox doesn't let you downgrade?!

Obvious questions perhaps: a) but should I downgrade? and b) if the consensus is yes, can some share a link instructions on the simplest way give Winbox won't let you

Thanks.

No, you can't. Chateau requires ROS v7.x and can't be downgraded to 6.x.
That's right, Mikrotik sells a device with beta (behaves more like an alpha) version of software...

Bug in mac-table by snmp. The interface number in the mac-table is offset by -1:

RB960PGS

firmware 6.47.3:

# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 10.160.0.24 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.2
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.4.3.1.2.0.14.94.11.38.242 = INTEGER: 5
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.4.3.1.2.72.143.90.107.197.193 = INTEGER: 0

# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 10.160.0.24 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.7.1.2.2.1.2
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.7.1.2.2.1.2.0.0.14.94.11.38.242 = INTEGER: 5
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.7.1.2.2.1.2.0.72.143.90.107.197.193 = INTEGER: 0

firmware 6.46.7
#snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 10.160.0.24 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.7.1.2.2.1.2
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.7.1.2.2.1.2.0.0.14.94.11.38.242 = INTEGER: 6
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.7.1.2.2.1.2.0.72.143.90.107.197.193 = INTEGER: 7

list of interfaces (6.46.7 and 6.47.3):
# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 10.160.0.24 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2
IF-MIB::ifDescr.1 = STRING: ether1
IF-MIB::ifDescr.2 = STRING: ether2
IF-MIB::ifDescr.3 = STRING: ether3
IF-MIB::ifDescr.4 = STRING: ether4
IF-MIB::ifDescr.5 = STRING: ether5
IF-MIB::ifDescr.6 = STRING: sfp1
IF-MIB::ifDescr.7 = STRING: bridge

Mac 00:0e:5e:0b:26:f2 in fact, located on the port sfp1. At firmware 6.47.3 it is detected on the ether5 port!

Update on this CVE-2020-11881
Hopefully next release. Too bad this was ignored. Security researcher reported the issue in time.
