RouterOS version 6.47.8 has been released in public "stable" channel!

Before an upgrade:
1) Remember to make backup/export files before an upgrade and save them on another storage device;
2) Make sure the device will not lose power during upgrade process;
3) Device has enough free storage space for all RouterOS packages to be downloaded.

What's new in 6.47.8 (2020-Nov-25 10:10):

Changes in this release:

*) arm - improved system stability;
*) bgp - treat route target with AS 65535 as two byte AS;
*) branding - fixed imported skin presence;
*) bridge - fixed BPDU guard port disable/enable on HW offloaded interfaces;
*) disk - improved disk management service stability when receiving bogus packets;
*) dns - improved stability with large table of static records;
*) ike1 - allow using "my-id" parameter with XAuth;
*) leds - fixed LED type setting;
*) metarouter - fixed directory entry reporting;
*) profile - fixed process classification on x86 systems (introduced in v6.47);
*) quickset - fixed wireless client "uptime" counter in "Home Mesh" mode;
*) sstp - fixed "idle-timeout" on TILE and CHR devices;
*) system - replace "3" in superscript to "^3" on RBD53GR devices;
*) upgrade - do not try installing packages if download was not completed;
*) winbox - added "operator" parameter under "Interface/LTE" menu;
*) winbox - added "reformat-hold-button-max" parameter under "System/RouterBOARD/Settings" menu;
*) winbox - added "tls-mode" parameter under "CAPsMAN/Security Cfg." menu;
*) winbox - added "tx-rx-1024-max" counter under "Interface/Overall-Stats" for CRS3xx devices;
*) winbox - do not allow MAC address changes on LTE interfaces;
*) winbox - show "System/Health" only on boards that have health monitoring;
*) winbox - show "System/RouterBOARD/Mode Button" on devices that have such feature;
*) winbox - show "usb-bus" option on all boards that have it;
*) winbox - show "usb-type" option on all boards that have it;
*) winbox - sort IPv6 firewall "chain" parameter entries alphabetically;

To upgrade, click "Check for updates" at /system package in your RouterOS configuration interface, or head to our download page: http://www.mikrotik.com/download

If you experience version related issues, then please send supout file from your router to support@mikrotik.com. File must be generated while router is not working as suspected or after some problem has appeared on device

Please keep this forum topic strictly related to this particular RouterOS release.

On the version 6.47.8 command repartition still not working (e.g. "/partitions repartition partitions =2") causes the router's cyclic reboot (about every 10 seconds).
On the version 6.46.8 this command works correctly.

architecture-name: mipsbe; model: 951Ui-2HnD; firmware-type: ar9344; factory-firmware: 6.46.1; current-firmware: 6.47.8; upgrade-firmware: 6.47.8
Support ticket(SUP-32199) was clossed with resolution "Software failure."

What exactly want to say here:

*) upgrade - do not try installing packages if download was not completed;

On the version 6.47.8 command "system telnet" does not work with parametr "routing-table". Error "telnet: Unknown argument"

[admin@MikroTik] > system telnet 192.168.1.1 routing-table=main

Welcome back!
On the version 6.45.9 this command works correctly.

Look in 6.48beta topic... there is some discussion about that.
Normally the text "improved system stability" means: fixed something that caused a hard crash/hang/reboot.
Similarly the text "improved stability when receiving bogus packets" means: fixed a DoS possibility or even a gaping security hole.
E.g. in this case the "improved stability with large table of static records" refers to a DoS possibility in the DNS resolver that is now fixed (although it still does not work correctly)

On the version 6.47.8 command "system telnet" does not work with parametr "routing-table". Error "telnet: Unknown argument"
The same for 6.47.7, so it's not a problem of 6.47.8.

*) winbox - show "usb-type" option on all boards that have it;
Probably the only things interesting to me. Updated successfully LtAP. Thanks for add Slot selection and USB type selection on WinBox.

Regards.

System health does not work properly.

CCR 1036 nothing to see
CRS309 only CPU temp
CRS326 only CPU temp
CRS 328 nothing to see
I can confirm, my CRS328-24P-4S+RM no longer displays health.
With 6.47.7 I could see temps, fan RPMs, wattages, voltages, amperage, etc.
With this version you click the option and nothing gets displayed / happens..

The update killed the wireless speed on a RB4011+ down to less than 8M. I couldn't even log in with WinBox/WebFig. Wired, everything was OK. I don't use the default channel width, so maybe I need to reset everything to default and start over. Since I spent many hours testing various devices to get good wireless speeds on this router, I'll update a spare HAP ac2 when I have more time to play with this release.

I have been keeping away from recent updates to avoid issues. Back to 6.45.8 for now.

EDIT: As I thought, I solved the issue by resetting to defaults and starting over with all settings instead of just loading a backup.

RBD52G-5HacD2HnD (HAP AC2) does not even show "health" option under "System" in Winbox. This is what happens when I check from CLI:
[admin@name] > /system health print

[admin@name] >

But it works on RB4011iGS+:
[admin@surname] > /system health print
      voltage: 23.5V
  temperature: 36C
[admin@surname] >

EDIT: I mean I am retarded then? :D It should show the section, but should not display temperatures if no sensor. Please be consistent, otherwise you have to hide lots of sections, like wireless if no wifi card present, or LTE if no modem present...
winbox - show "System/Health" only on boards that have health monitoring;

RBD52G-5HacD2HnD (HAP AC2) does not have health information. It just does not have hardware sensors.

Hi,

*) arm - improved system stability;"

Can you explain this a little bit? Does it include an improvement regarding watchdog for arm ethernet routers? Arm routers (1100xr) frequently switch off and on under high load due to the watchdog.

Please add board temperature to SNMP 1.3.6.1.4.1.1.14988.1.1.3.10.0 for this device.
You should rather browse the new gauges introduced in 6.47 :
.1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.3.100.1
The other (old) .1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.3.x OIDs are expected to be deprecated one day...
Many models already have more sensors available through the new gauges' table than through the old OIDs.

Don't know if that is related to this particular update, but RB3011 couldn't boot anymore after updating from 6.47.6, being restarted every time after "Starting services" stage. I've tried NetInstall to 6.47.8 and 6.47.7 without and with config wipe — no success.

Long story short — I've restored it with ROS7 firmware, and found the problem: looks like lowering CPU frequency to 600Mhz on 6.47.8 (or 6.47.7 as well) will brick the device after next reboot. Haven't tested it with 6.47.6 though.

Hello,
CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS is still not stable. We had yesterday reboot with 6.47.8 routeros-arm64. Traffic was around 4-5Gb/s. And they are god damn low performance.

Best regards.

Is this a bug, but I can't see 5GHz Current Tx Power? It is working fine and devices are connected, but just can't see anywhere the transmit power.
The tab is just empty. in 2.4GHz it's filled with numbers.

It has nothing to do with the ROS version, this was always the case for 5GHz ac cards.

You have "some" information in the status of the interface. Here 17dBm.
That is shown only in tx-power-mode=regulatory-domain and that is simply maximum allowed tx-power.
Don't even know if it is calculated from actual antenna gain, as you describe, or just hard-coded from the default antenna gain.
Anyway, it is not the actual tx-power in any form.

Oh, it was my impression that this figure is the max EIRP per chain on that specific frequency.
So subtract the antenna gain and you get the max output power per chain.

Total, not per chain. And with antenna gain already subtracted.
So for ac you can set this as tx-power.
For n - might need to subtract 3 or 5 depending on number of chains.

Transmit Power representation on 802.11n and 802.11ac
802.11n wireless chipsets represent power per chain and the 802.11ac wireless chipsets represent the total power, for reference see the table below:

Changes with the antenna gain are OK, but does not reflect the manual tx-power set. That's why I mentioned ' "some" information.'
And ... the wireless interface must be enabled to see it.

Hi !

I have a RBwAPG-60ad Wireless wire link that came pre-configured. https://mikrotik.com/product/wireless_wire

I make updates via Winbox with "check for updates"

I want you to know if I loose the configuration and the link goes down I do not know to to configure it.

Currently I have 6.47.8 Stable and I want ro know if I can change to 6.46.8 Long term directly from Winbox without loose my configuration.
It is safe ?
it is a good ideea ? Or should I remain on Stable?

I have an RB1100AHx4 running on 6.47 for about 185 days now, which is when that version was released. I'm currently not experiencing any issues, bugs or any other problems yet. I checked change logs and there doesn't seem to be any security fixes since then. Should I leave it as is or upgrade? Router is in production with 1 BGP session and 3 or 4 ports in use.

This is a good question to where there is no general truth I would guess. So the more releases there are between your build and the current build the greater the likelihood is of a upgrade issue I would guess. When MT tested upgrades they do not disclose from which builds they tests etc.

But as you do not need the upgrade you say and if you do not want to upgrade that often I would switch to Long-Term but right now that is a downgrade for you. Sooner or later Long-Term will go to 6.47.X release and then you can switch.

I recently updated a router from 6.47.1 to 6.47.7 because I got hit by a bug that was introduced in 6.47 (the problem with l2tp connects from the same address).
However, it may well be that you do not experience that bug and thus do not need to upgrade for that reason.
It will vary depending on the config. There are so many capabilities and so many variations in config that it really is impossible to advise in these cases.

Of course it would be different when your question was "I am running 6.39 and I want to upgrade to 6.47.8, is it worthwile and is there a risk of issues".
In such case it would be much easier: yes it would be worthwile, and yes there is a high chance of issues, so plan your recovery. Partition the router, make backups, etc.

Emils,

I am using DoH DNS which works fine, but if I reboot the router and it takes some moments to get a new DHCP lease the log is filled with:

DoH server connection error: resolving error

Can you quieten down the DoH error log rate? In these moments when the WAN interface is down a 1000 entry log overflows quickly.

Ever since DoH been in RouterOS it's been like that. It's been in the betas and stable release and they know about the issue but guys at Mikrotik think good the way it is now: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=161887#p797837

I have routers:
RB941-2nD
RB951-Ui-2HnD
RB951-G-2HnD
After upgrade to 6.47.8, the communication will be poor between devices.
the pings is lost between two ports in one bridge. The links between routers throuse vlan is lost.
I find reason of problem. I solve problem, by disable hardware offload on the ports in bridge.
If I eneble hardware offload, I have problem.

*) dns - improved stability with large table of static records;

Has anyone else noticed that after several days apart from static DNS entries all new cached DNS items time out in 5 seconds? I found this a week ago and rebooted the RB4011 router and last night I noticed it again. It happens with or without DoH. I can ping a site, see the new cached entry come in (with a timeout of 5 mins), count to 5 and it's gone again.

if write a script through the web interface, it will become one line, because of this, for a some time I could not understand what the problem is, because you can see it only through winbox.
