We recentlty switched to a FTTH internet access (fiber7.ch). Now, we are looking for a new router with integrated SFP, because we don't like our current solution with the separate converter (TP-Link MC220L).

We looked at the CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+PC and are a bit worried about its speed. Our internet provider fiber7, who also sells Mikrotik devices, indicates for other models only maximum speed of 300Mbps.

Our questions are:

Does the CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+PC have the same limitation or can it go up to 1000Mbps (WAN)?

The router has both SFP and SFP+. Can it use both simultanously?
Can I use the SFP+ for an internal server with appropriate ethernet adapter (Intel X710-DA2)?

Device itself has no limitation, just like any other Gigabit model.

The seller most likely meant to warn you that if you use the device for routing, and have firewall, queues or other features that process traffic, this affects CPU usage, which in turn affects the resulting bandwidth.

So for routing with firewall and all kinds of other features, CPU is important. This model has a powerful CPU. Check table at the bottom of this page for real test results:

normally for each 1 mbit/s of wan throughput you can expect 250 pps, for 1gbit wan you need a router capable of moving 250k pps with your actual config or even 500k pps if you achieve full 1gbit bidirectional load, if you have a mikrotik router with your actual speed you can predict at certain point the load with more wan capacity

take in count for gpon you will need to use converter from isp, mikrotik equipment only supports ethernet sfp modules

II can vouch that the CCR1009 do 2Gbps NAT with no problem.

In fact one of the ISP recommend CCR to bond 3Gbps.

He said he's using TP-Link MC220L. That's a media converter, so fiber service must be P2P, not GPON.

Just unplug SFP module from TP-Link and install it on the CCR, and it must work.

I think CCR1009 is powerful enough to get 1gbps with NAT and some firewall rules

CCR1009-8G-1S-PC can handle as a POP router, which would be used for PPPoE + MPLS + OSPF ?

May be atleast handle 500Mbps PPPoE traffic with simple queues 2 queues per user ?
