Omnitik Grounding Solution

Wed Oct 21, 2015 9:47 pm

Since i have noticed i had more broken ports since i was installing omnitiks, I had to find a solution.
mostly there was also 1 other device broken like a nanostation or powerbeam due to lightning strikes
before we used the RB493 in towers and they even did survive direct lightning strikes.

I also like to test if the RF immunity is improved, a lot of RF will cause ethernet ports to fall back to 10Mbit half duplex.

The solution i will test now is a USB grounding cable (4mm2), the other end I will put between the hose clamp and the pole.

Isn't better to open the case and solder a wire inside? Or use something like this http://s15.postimg.org/40aljq8vv/sxt.jpg

on new ones it's better to solder a grounding wire, since we have to open them for soldering the POE out.

currently we have 241 omnitiks deployed on our little hobby network.
this usb grouding solution is perfect for existing nodes.
