Never mind. You can easily jump from a motorcycle to a scooter, can't you? But anyway. 3011 should be "more than twice" powerful than 2011 while 1100ahx2 is four times powerful....

i think we have to confirm hardware crypto status of rb3011:

if rb3011 supports hardware crypto i think the rb1100 will be phased out because cost twice the rb3011 and will have inferior performance

if rb3011 do not support hardware crypto i think th rb1100 will stand for implementations requiring that.

rb1100ahx2 some time ago was the flagship of mikrotik and its a very good and proved work horse but

i think rb1100 is not a good buy, it cost 350us, with 75-100 us more you can buy the cheap version of ccr1009 which has 3.0x the performance.

well, the RB1100AHx2 has three ports with dedicated connections to the CPU making it a more capable router then the RB3011 for some scenario's.

And, to add to chechito's points, the RB1100AHx2 has been around for a while. Some might require replacements and not all customers might be as keen to move to a new, unproven device. A further detractor in my mind is the fact that this is the first ARM based device (that I am aware of) that Mikrotik has on offer. While I'm not suggesting the device hasn't been tested every which way, I would not pick it as a replacement for one of my core routers in a larger environment. When reliability is key, it pays off to be conservative and go with tried and tested products.

Please don't discontinue the 1100AHx2 . Have lots and lots of them in the field and take an absolutely beating.

Uptimes on some of mine just looking at the NMS System 140d 06:25:53 , 120d 06:25:53

Think they hit over 400 days uptime before that but were taken down by a power failure.

I don't think that someone from mikrotik will ever take your routers away...

wait for next IPQ/IPC that come out soon.
Qualcomm already released IPQ40xx (for AP and low-yeld/cheap routers).
and also newer IPQ8xxx incoming eventually. and 4x and especially 8x core IPQ8xxx - perhaps suits that niche quite well.
(note: IPQ40xx perhaps latest IPQ from Q Without 802.11ax support.)

RB3011's is mid-level/high-level SOHO router, not SMB-grade AH1x00's routers replacement.
(if you doing something time-critical and can't wait - buy silenced CCR1009 instead(not similar option for CCR1016, yet, sadly. would b cool/helpful too).
